  1. Sarco did have bayonet lugs. I bought 2 several years ago at $40.00 each. I also had a local gunsmith turn the barrel on a lathe properly and slot the tapered grooves for the tapered pins. The gunsmith did a nice job, he is in Pa.

  5. Has anyone looked at this Johnson carefully? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/766555510 Looks like pistol grip on stock is missing. Seller not pointing out. Don't see recoil tube or spring, seller is pointing out this flaw. Barrel need ground down for bayonet lug, probably a sporter barrel? Wonder what else is wrong? Couple of other parts missing.
  6. Question on the Chilean Johnson. I know the barrel is 7 mm and the barrels are interchangeable. Will this Johnson fire a 30.06 bullet by just changing to 30.06 barrel? Or do other parts have to change? I should know this.Don't at least some of Chilean contract have crest on receiver? . Thanks
  7. Several years ago I purchased 2 -1941 Johnson barrels. These are my observations. The barrel in the upper part of the photo I believe to be a 1941 military as issued and came with a front sight only, with ears ground off. The barrel in the lower part of the photo is a Winfield sporter barrel that had a ramp front sight. The military barrel has both barrel collars marked in military fashion. The lower collar has stamped 9820H, which is also stamped into the barrel itself. Also stamped into the barrel is JA, 30.06 and what looks like a Johnson logo. Barrel is approximately 22 5/8" long. There are 2 steps at the end of the barrel to accommodate the bayonet lug and front sight. The diameter for the lug is .591 and front sight is .565. Thanks to Mark for selling me a front sight with ears. Purchased 2 bayonet lugs from Sarco. Thanks to Brian for lead to pins available on ebay, No. 2 tapered pins by 1/2" long. The Winfield sporter barrel has the barrel collars marked in military fashion. The lower collar has 6799E stamped on collar, but no markings on barrel itself. The barrel is approximately 23" long with no steps at end or barrel. I believe a good gunsmith with a lathe could turn the barrel to make the steps to match military barrel. Hope this helps, with others trying to restore barrels.
  8. I bet email bounced. Try bobkasper1@msn.com. Thanks bob

  10. Is Joseph Scott still selling parts? I could use 1 military front sight and 2 bayonet lugs, plus mounting pins. Or anyone else? Thanks email bobkasper1@msn.com
  11. I would like to receive a parts list from Joe Scott for M1941 Johnson email, phone? should I list my email or phone number? Thanks
  12. My father bought this johnson rifle in the 1960's, I think at the Baltimore gun show. I now have it and was wondering a little on the history. Serial number B3601. Marked 30.06 on receiver. Appears to be reparked, overall very good condition. Has ramp front sight, no bayonet lug. Sight marked WS in a circle. Hammer block is marked B6387, hammer G8344, bolt A2119, magazine E3448, butt plate 450. Rear sight is in meters. Don't see any markings on barrel. Could barrel be different caliber? Stock is unmarked and in good condition. Only thing missing is 1 large flat head screw for handguard. Anyone know where I could get one? Won't mention the price paid when purchased, probably will not believe me. Thanks, Bob
