I am having a hard time touching base with you. My age and no computer skills are not helping.

I have a 1941 Johnson rifle and a 1941 LMG that was put back together with the help of Brian Alpert and

Rodney Richardson. It runs very well on the range, no problems. I was at the Barre,Vt. gun show last week

and was asked if one or both were for sale and offered $ 9000.00 for both. I have no idea what the semi auto

LMG is worth. Any thoughts ?

      Hi Bob

I am sorry that you have been having trouble contacting me. I watch the forum fairly closely, but some times it fails in notifying me of PM's, even though I do check frequently.

The semi-auto LMG, as it is built from a 'cut' receiver', will have less a value, if properly advertised as a cut-receiver'. Uncut SMLG's have  seen slightly higher prices than JSAR's. Recently one very nice one went for $12K back in Sept 2022, and another, with several magazines, went for $14k.

JSAR's have recently run the gambit from $5k and up, with some hitting some astronomical $15-16k. However, there are 3-4 that have sat on Gun Broker for weeks, with the seller asking $10-16K as starting bids.

You might be better off posting photos of both, here on the forum, and see if any forum members either want to offer or give you a better feel for the their potential worth. Or list them yourself on GunBroker or other auction site.

Thanks for the  info. The LMG was built with help from Brian Alpert and Rodney Richardson. Brian was a big

help all around..I have sent photos to rarecat ( Frank ) to look at, as he may be interested in one or both.

      Thanks

Can you give me a ballpark estimate on the value of a Johnson LMG that has been converted to

semi auto? I was at the Barre, Vt. gun show last weekend and I had someone enquire as I told him

    I had one to sell.

Yes It is ,Has rewelded and assembled by Brian Alpert's friend Rodney Richardson and now runs Ok.

I was asked at the Barre,Vt. gun show if it was for sale and I don't  have any idea what it is value is.

      Any thoughts ?

Another pertinent question. Is the LMG semi-auto or not? That will truly affect both price and sale.

      It is semi auto

  3. I have a Murray buttstock. I had to wait a year for it. At the time he made it he could not find anyone to drill the stock for the mainspring tube. Joe Scott drilled it for me and installed the tube. It came out perfect ! The stock was very nice with little to no inletting needed. He may still sell them unfinished, undrilled. Bob G.
  4. Can a demilled 1941 Johnson LMG be rebuilt as a semi auto only.
  5. I received my butt stock from murrays gunstocks,It was sent without a recoil spring tube hole drilled as he is unable to do it. I sent it out to be drilled and it came back perfect. Bill ( rifleman) sent me a recoil tube which was installed after the stock was drilled (by the forum member that drilled the stock ). I now have a fully functional Johnson rifle !! I would like to thank Brian, Bill, and Joseph for all the help and parts but mostly that they stepped up to help me get my Johnson working. I would be unable to do this on my own. I am very happy to belong to this forum with all the members knowledge that they are so willing to share. Bob G.
  6. Have not heard anything from Randy Murray about my buttstock order in June, anybody find a new source yet ?? Bob G.
  7. Murrays Gunstocks is sending me a Johnson buttstock without the mainspring hole drilled. He will sell them that way if you can drill your own hole for mainspring tube.
  8. That would be awesome , please keep the forum updated !! Bob G.
  9. Bill As of now I don't have a stock, I do have a mainspring, and all the parts except the recoil tube. I have been waiting for a buttstock from Murrays Gunstocks for over a year now. Sent a deposit and all I get is lip service. So really what I need is a recoil tube and a buttstock. Regards Bob G.
  10. Bill Would you have a recoil tube for sale ? I've been looking for one with no luck yet. Thanks Bob G.
  11. I have sent a deposit to Randy Murray for a buttstock with a mainspring tube installed. Will keep the forum informed of progress.
  12. Bill If you find a source for the mainspring tube please pass on the info. as I need one also. Bob Gorton thruxton1966@msn.com
  13. Ed Did you hear back from Randy ?
  14. Have not heard anything from Randy Murray ,anyone find a new source for buttstocks ??

  16. I got an email from Randy Murray yesterday and he is still looking for a good pattern Johnson stock to copy. Bob G.
  17. Brian Do you have the parts I need or do I purchase from someone else ? If you have them I am ready to purchase now. Bob
  18. Brian, Sounds good, I have a rear sight assembly, not sure if it complete. I think I would like the type 2 sight base if possible. Can your gunsmith or you supply the needed parts ? Bob
  19. Brian My son helped me to send photos, what do you think? Is it a possible to make a semi auto out of this ? The rear section of the two piece bolt is cut, the firing pin has a 1/4 inch cut off the rear and the ejector was cut in half. Can you get an estimate of costs please. I am very serious on getting this done. Regards Bob Gorton
  20. Brian

I am interested in the semi auto conversion, do you have an estimate on costs ?  The receiver that was cut is from

a 1941 Johnson rifle. It was cut thru the rear sight dovetail,so I will need a ejector assembly and locking cam and

roller assembly. The firing pin was also cut, other than those items I think it is complete. I do have the rear sight.

    Thanks

      Brian

It is a semi auto receiver and so marked. It was converted to a JLMG . All I would like to do is make it a JLMG

      semi auto.

Should not be a problem to weld it.  Take some pictures and send them and I will take them to my gunsmith and see how much he wants to do the job.  He is an experienced welder, machinist and builder of LMG look-a-likes but he is painfully slow as it is a sideline.

I have not been able to figure out how to send you photo's on the forum. Will try to get my son to help send photo 's of the cut receiver.

  21. Brian I am interested in the conversion to semi fire only. Do you have an estimate on the costs ? thanks
  22. Will do !
  23. That stock has been on for quite some time, then relisted again. Looks rough. I think I would rather have a new one even if it is a repro.
  24. Murrays Gunstocks 541-340-9814 in Idaho. He also has a website, Murrays Gunstocks
  25. Ed I don't know but you could check with Randy Murray .
