Follow -up question:

This seems like a pretty early delivery date, and I think I read that a few early deliveries actually made it to the Dutch colonial troops in the Pacific that were fending off the Japanese expansion. The condition is consistent with having spent some time in the field.

What are the odds this gun actually saw action?

Does anyone know the dates of the last shipments(if any) that made it to the Dutch in the Pacific?

Thanks,

JSAR production began in September of 1941, without checking to be certain I believe it was the 7th. It is possible that your rifle may have been shipped to the NEI but may be one of the rifles that was on a ship that was diverted to Australia, where the KNIL troops were regrouped after the capitulation of the NEI in 1942.

I have the ship names and details of the dates of shipments somewhere in my files. I'll see if I can locate them.
