Different Stock Modification

2 posts in this topic

I purchased my JSAR in Apr. 2003 and joined the forum in Dec. 2004. While I do not remember if I asked this at the time, over the years I have often wondered about this. Other than the few Forum Members that attended the 6-4-2004 W. Springfield, MA Militaria Show who saw this rifle, has any one else seen a stock modified like this? The "expert opinion/guess" back at the 2004 show was that at one point in time, the possessor or owner of the rifle had been an avid 1903 Springfield "S" stock shooter/owner and he may have modified the stock to feel the same in his hands. The "expert opinion" at that that time was that it was a well done modification and that I should not  try to fix this.  While not "original configuration" and it might detract some from the value, it had not affected the way the rifle operates.  I have to admit, it is rather unique and it does not feel that strange in my hands.
