Newby ramblings

Hello to all, thanks to Jim P for his help with my registration.

I like to think I’m an active collector and history buff. This Johnson 1941 has been on my list for quite awhile. I’ve had a place in Arizona for 18 years and seen them at the local gun shows, but by the time I decided to take the plunge, they’ve become a bit of the thing. Both in terms of value and scarcity of bits.

I’ve been reading the Literature, your forum,  and following Gunbroker for some time in search of the information I need: and particularly the elusive bayonet lug. Really wish I was into this type when those parts were readily available.

If anyone has any leads or specs to share so that I might obtain or fashion one that would be appreciated. Thanks to all that have responded this far.

I’ve already completed a nice Winfield Deluxe sporter; it came with all the parts but for the buttstock, managed to finally fine a nice NOS replacement. Hate to pull that apart to finish the latest Mipspec project.

Just missed a really rough first run JSAR at the local auction, missing almost all the small parts, broken stock, and truly worn out from hunting the north for 70 years. That sold for $1500!

Truly this gun has some great and interesting design and history.

look forward to continuing the conversation.

Besides  the Bayo lug, I would like to tract down a front crosspin; the one with the little knob above the spring clip, and better butt plate, mines been in the bottom of the Jeep too long.

cheers

Hello lainC and welcome to the site. Sorry, but I just sold my spare butt plate. As for the other parts, you did the right thing by listing your needs here.  If you already have a JSAR, and it is a no prefix number, post the number here and get the production log info.
