Rear site gradients color

When I was cleaning mine for retreating I came across what appears to be yellow paint in the numbers. The windage has white paint on a NOS replacement.

Ive seem samples with both white and yellow color on the numbers, also many without.

Does anyone have good info on which if any color is correct for the elevation marks?

Searching the archives, looks like they were white, when painted.
