  1. I have the list of the machine types, makers, serial numbers and where they were sourced from somewhere in my files.
  2. There were seven S prefix rifles made. They were produced on the first day of production as sample rifles. S7 was for sale a few years ago. S5 (if I remember correctly) was disassembled and turned into a semi-automatic carbine.
  3. I don't understand this sentence in reference to Johnson rifles.
  4. Universal windings were part of the NESA conglomeration. They made parts for both BAR's and M1 carbines as mentioned above. I have a booklet about their operation, some of whuch I put onto the main site. I have some emterial somewhere that I got from National Archives that details a lot of what each plant ?part of NESA made. I believe Larry Ruth mentions something about them in his 'War Baby' books.
  5. Overview of the show was pretty good. It is a collector's show set up mainly for arms and armor of the pre-1898 era. There was a fair selection of WW2 rifles. A chap in line had an first pattern early 03 Springfield that he wanted lots of money for. It was probably worth it as it was virtually mint. Johnson's as above. Very good plus condition to poor sporterized with the sight mounts butchered off. No Johnson bayonets, manuals or accessories.
  6. I shall be at the MACA show in Baltimore today. I believe there will be a number of JSARs for sale. I shall report back. Updates when I see them via my phone! I will be carrying a Beretta M1 which I'm interested in selling. Hope to see people there
  7. B6692 sporterized at $3600. Poor condition
  8. Rifle S/n 3363. Same really good condition for $6950
  9. Rifle S/N 3830. Very nice condition @$6950
  10. Right where you are now. Remember all sales must be conducted off this board and all laws and regulations have to be met etc etc.
  11. Its still on there Walt!
  12. No the site has not been hacked. Unfortunately we get about 20 applications to join per day. 99% of these are bogus spambots or similar types of junk. I can usually spot them and the site has software to automatically dump them. Occasionally, as in the case of the poster who put up the porn they use a legitimate "clean" email address which doesn't flag up or look dubious. The integrity of your email etc has not been compromised by the posts this person posted, unless you clicked on one of the links to another page, where anything could happen as I have no control of that.
  13. Its a sporterized B-series M1941 that has been tricked out and a story added.
  14. John, Can you post photos of your rifle? Being an-ex USMC weapon this would be of interest.
  15. The only Winfield markings I have seen on their sporterized rifles were a rubber recoil pad with "Winfield Arms" written in script withing the moulding. I have seen no other specific 'Winfield' markings. The front sights occasionally will have an intertined 'WS". This is a Williams Sight Company ramp sight.
  16. Could be one of the spare barrels that were supplied as part of the spares that were ordered with the rifles by NPC. The barrel only being accepted not the whole rifle.
  17. That's good news Joe! Just keep in with the ghastly sounding injections into the eye and you"ll be doing fine! Jim

  21. Hi John, Just a sideline to your excellent piece of family history. Cranston Arms/ Universal Winding Co. were part of the New England Small Arms conglomerate (NESA) who contracted with Ordnance Dept. to make such things a BAR's and M1 Carbine parts. The production log does not have any annotations to denote who was the test of proof firer. It's just numbers tabulated into a chart. So he could have been a BAR function/ proof tester too! That's pretty awesome in itself also!

  23. I checked that out and found that Gonzo posted about it in 2010. The film is called, "Assembly". The link to Youtube has been taken down due to copyright infringements, however I found another. There is a JSAR shown within the first 7 seconds of the clip.
