  1. PICTURES! I'm always up for seeing another semi LMG. That rear hanger shouldn't be much of a problem. It's amazing that you've kept after that project for so long. I'm coming up on one year for mine. I have a "line" on everything I need but have to have patience......and a good welder to fix my receiver
  2. Looks great! I know what you mean by the "miltech look". But it's better than the "before" description, you gave. Congrats!
  3. We used to remove silicone from cars with a solvent cleaner called final wash. If I were doing the park at where I work now, I'd use lacquer thinner. If you're really talking about silicone though, it's nasty stuff and your blast media would be contaminated with it. I'm not really incline to subscribe to the silicone theory though. I'd lean more towards the metal, heat treating and hardness angle. Sheet metal tends to come out light, from my experience. We use Allegheny's park solution, at work and have used it for more than 15 years. It's good stuff. If I was doing this, I'd try again making sure I have the correct temp and I'd add more park solution to the tank. But, actually. if I was doing this for myself, I'd be using the Oxphoblue over a beaded/blasted surface because AA park solution will not give the black color I'd be looking for on those parts Good luck with whatever you choose to do and let us know how you make out Rob S in PA (15 years in autobody and another 15 in a shop, parkerizing.......yes, I know I'm not looking at a long and healthy life!)
  4. Here's one of Joe's butt stocks
  5. For the spring, I used an allen wrench. I don't remember the size. A fella at work suggested it and it works fine so far on my para. Good luck on the latch. I got lucky and found one in a big pile of dirty greasy parts at Knob Creek last fall. I had to dig hard and deep though.....and no one would shake my hand till I cleaned up a little.....lol
  6. I finally had the pleasure of speaking with Joe on the phone the other night. He sounded good but busy and at least a little warmer than we are here in PA.....lol
  7. My wife looked at weather for northern ME where she went to school and the wind chill was -47. It takes a special breed to live up there in this stuff! They are calling for -2 here Mon. night and we just aren't used to that stuff! Good luck and stay warm!
  8. ArtR, Done that......those are the unanswered messages. You better throw another log on the fire. It's going to get cold! Thanks, Rob
  9. Is anyone hearing from Joe? My messages are going unanswered and I'm not seeing any new posts but I see that he's checked in on the site, I think. I still need another stock. Thanks Rob
  10. Joe.....I'm interested in a stock. I'll be sending you a message, shortly Thanks Rob
  11. Like this? Plus I saved back enough parts to build a rifle except for the wood, barrel, magazine and receiver ... plus an extra bolt and firing pins. The LMG parts did not come from the auction
  12. I wish I'd have been there for the misc stuff. Those prices sure look reasonable enough. I really like the posters too!
  13. Thanks for the update, Joe
  14. Looks great!
  15. It's been another month. How about a status update, Joe? Thanks Rob
  16. Here are a couple pics of some things I've been working on. First up is my "Daisey Mae". I still need a rear sight base and a spacer between the mag and lower. I test fired it this week though and it works! I was happy since this is a combination of Johnson and Dror parts. Special thanks to Brian Alpert for his help Next is a rifle I refinished and restocked for a fella. The stock came from Joe Scott. This last one is just eye candy. But my next project is to build one like it. I have most of the parts. I'm looking for one of Joe's repro mag housings.....unless an original falls into my lap.....
  17. I wouldn't mind knowing more about this.....but I will mention my rifle has had some mods done so that the open bolt/full auto feature will not work
  18. Thank you! This was someone elses project that a friend got, before I got it from him......convoluted, huh! Most of the mods were done before and all I really needed to do was find parts, fit, finish and build. My lower is the 41 Johnson LMG. You'll have to talk to someone else about the Dror lower fitting. All I used from a Dror were the latch, hammer and the rear of the bolt assembly. Good luck with your project! And don't forget to post pics! Thanks Rob
  19. Is there a status update? Also, I'd rather do my own parkerizing so it will match my receiver Thanks Rob S in PA
  20. Thanks Ryche! Good luck with the Dror and don't forget to post pics! Rob
  21. What's up with the rejected stock? I might be interested if it's available Thanks Rob S in PA
  22. Joe Did you get my pm that I need the rear reinforcing bolts for the stock I just got from you?.....which, by the way looks great but have not had the time to install Thanks Rob S in PA
  23. Thank you Joe and I am sorry to hear about your health. I was really hoping it was a glitch in the PM system. I'll be PM'ing you soon and sending money in a day or two Thanks Rob
  24. Well, I am passing on the fore-end. You may go for it. And if I'm wrong, you have my apologies as well. Rob S in PA
