  12. Something like this one?: I bought this one overhere in Germany. Originally it was imported from Australia. This rifle definitely saw some action, look at the muzzle, it was fired at least once with an obstructed barrel. The stock is almost black, it looks a lot like the M95 carbines from the Dutch indies I own. As you can see the stock at the magazin is straight. Hard to say if it was like that originally, or if the laminated parts got lost. My second Johnson(see the last picture) was imported by me from Canada and looks like new. The wood is original, I just cleaned/rubbed it with linseed oil. Unfortunately the bore is not in a good condition. Adriaan by the way:you can find some more pictures of my rifles in the Gallery, finally found the time to make/upload them.
  13. Thank you very much! Anymore ideas? Adriaan
  14. Tim, I will make some pictures as soon as I can find some time Adriaan
  15. two of them went to me.... For your Information: West Indie=Suriname. I know from fellow Dutch collectors that the Johnson's were employed there after WW II. Unfortunately I haven't been able sofar to find out much about the whereabouts of the Johnson's that were not delivered to the Dutch East Indies or where exactly they were used after WW II untill the Dutch stopped using them and sold them off. Adriaan by the way, thanks for the link,it's great Material.
  16. If it wasn't so extremely expense to get the rifle to Germany from you, I would gladly take it!(if I bought it from you for let's say 4000 USD, I am looking at about 6500 USD total costs before I have it in my hands....) Good luck selling the rifle, if it is in good shape, it should not be a big problem. Quality is always asked for! Adriaan
  17. If you want a 30-06 barrel just for shooting, get yourself a new one from Joe Scott. Top quality for a very fair price. Joe Scott is an active member and can be contacted through this forum. I would never sell a "pretty nice" Johnson just because it's in 7x57. If the barrel you have is good, there is nothing to stop you from shooting it, all components for the 7x57 are readily available. 18. Searching the web for goodies, I found a Johnson automatics Broadside for sale at www.joesalter.com Look under "military longguns", Item nr 14293. Maybe something for someone overhere? Adriaan
  19. ed, Merry Christmas to you, your family and everybody who is reading this. For 2011: stay healthy(and I hope my Johnson M1941 Number 3 finally comes out of it's hiding place....) and all the best. greetings Adriaan from a snowy Germany where 10 inches of snow are able to create "chaos"
  20. Now that would be a movie that I am interested in. Adriaan
  21. Ed, thank you Tanker: thanks, I will ask the seller for a picture and might buy it if it's oke. greetings Adriaan
  22. Jim, do you happen to know which books that were? Adriaan
  23. I am lucky enough to own two books that have been signed by Melvin Johnson himself. His books are often found in websites that specialize in old/antique books. I bought almost every book from Melvin Johnson through this site: http://www.abebooks.com/ Never had any problems and got what I paid for. The only one missing is his book on ammunition, I guess that will be my next birthday present. Interesting is: if you search for books from the author Melvin Maynard Johnson, you will get a lot of hits on books about freemasonry. I know from "the book" that "our" Melvin Johnson was active in freemasonry, but I wonder if he wrote some books on this subject too. Anyone know something about this? thanks Adriaan
  24. Congratulations Jim and thanks again for your work on this website. Adriaan
  25. Joe, place a call to Kevin Cherry(the guy you send my barrel for exporting to Germany) and ask him. Another one to ask is Simpson Collector's Firearms. Please be aware that you could get into serious trouble when exporting a firearm or parts without the proper paperwork. Also your customer should be aware that getting the export permit is not cheap: I am paying 500 US Dollar(250 for Cherry's work plus 250 fee for the BATF) WITHOUT any garantee that the permit will be granted. The necessary importpermit also does not come for free. On top of that, at least to Europe, the barrel can only be shipped by very expensive airfreight. UPS, USPS etc are a no go(you can only use them to ship antiques - firearms build before 1898). Maybe things are easier when shipping to your neighbour Canada, but it should be checked out to prevent annoying surprises. good luck Adriaan
