  1. Ditto with me as well! Intriguing how everybody's are marked the same. I tend to agree with Brain that they are not from a unit or squad considering there was only 1000 +/- made and for the 3 of us to have scabbards from the same unit would be remarkable. Anyhow, looks like we have another rabbit hole to jump down... Wayne
  2. Very cool!!! Now if we could figure out what it all means
  3. I didn't either until the subject came up yesterday
  4. Since everyone is showing theirs, I'll show you mine with the Chilean scabbard. Wayne
  5. ArtR, i was thinking the same thing or possibly Sept 42? Who knows? Anyhow, the letters strikes are clear and rather large, at an angle across the back of the scabbard. Not nearly uniform like US scabbards. Wayne
  6. Very nice!! Now that you have completed this project, you need to find another war horse that desires a restoration!
  7. My Chilean scabbard is stamped under the belt loop '942 AMT' if that is any help? Wayne
  8. Hey Orlando, In the past year, I haven't seen one sell for under $400. I did see one sell for as much as $800.
  9. It's interesting how the Chilean JSAR's go for less money considering there was only about 1000 of them?
  10. I paid much than that for my 7mm barrel in VG condition. Didn't want to do it but it made my Chilian JSAR correct.
  11. Jim/Ed, That is perfect! Thank you! Wayne
  12. Ed, Sorry for the mistake, I was referring to Jim's frozen post in the rifle section. Wayne
  13. Hey Ed, Thanks for the information!! Being that this issue seems to come up from time to time, this might be a good subject to be posted without the ability to respond under the serial number post by Walt. That way it is always available for review by all members. Just a thought...... Wayne
  14. Thank you, Ed for your response! I've been excited to read your input. Hopefully, whomever it was that purchased this rifle, did so because of what it is. Not because of a made up provenance. Back in the late 70's, my dad had a chance to purchase a Henry rifle that had supposedly belonged to Poncho Villa. The dealer wanted over 10k for it but couldn't provide the provenance to back his story. Thankfully, my dad walked without purchasing.

  16. Nothing like a day at the range with your boy! Some of the best memories I have ever had!
  17. Just received my July edition of American Rifleman magazine. Their military service rifle article is on the 1941 Johnson!
  18. If I remember correctly, I spoke to Ed about the A and B prefix logs about a year ago. I believe he told me they where destroyed in a flood. Maybe Ed could refresh my memory?? Wayne Disregard this post. I didn't see Ed's response. Sorry bout that! 🙄
  19. It was written by Bruce Canfield so most of the info is probably already in his book but it is still good to see articles on this great rifle. Wayne
  20. Welcome Wes! Congrats on your new Johnson! Brian will be along soon and give you all the info on your rifle. Wayne
  21. I bought my star washers and correct screws from Joe Scott a couple of years ago. They work great! Prior to obtaining them, I could not keep the stock tight. They are a must have.
  22. Congratulations on your new purchase! The mag has been refinished.
  23. Bought mine from Joe Scott here on the forum
  24. A few years ago, I had a gunsmith in Texas refinish a M1 carbine for me. He did a phenomenal job!! His company is Warbird Custom Guns. He specializes in M1's, M1A's and M1 Carbines. I don't know if he would be willing to refinish your JSAR but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Good luck.
  25. I, too, am not an expert but they appear original to me.
