Reciever Serial Number R 4474

Hi,

I was able to acquire a Johnson with the receiver serial number of R4773. Can anyone give me an idea of where it was in the production line?

Take a closer look at the serial number.

Does it look like it could be a "B"? There are no "R" receivers.

It could be a light strike, or if the rifle has been refinished, the bottom of the B could be buffed off.

You're right it is a B 4773.

Rifles were produced in serial number blocks. The first run had no letter prefixes in front of the numbers, the second run were "A" prefix, the third run "B".......

Yours is close to the middle of the "B" production run (but that doesn't mean it didn't sit in a bin with all the others and got pulled at random).
