3 posts in this topic

Just bought one serial #9877 it's a Miltech.  Any info would be appreciated.

Also, as far as I can tell, you can't unload this without going bang 10 time correct?

Thanks Much!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Yes, Mr Alpert should have info on your rifle serial #

As far as unloading a 1941 Johnson. I would say engage the trigger safety, point rifle in a safe direction and manually cycle the bolt until all live rounds have ejected from the action. Last round should lock bolt open although some 1941's lack a bolt hold open. Double check to make sure magazine and chamber are empty.

Here is the info on SN 9877:

Received from Cranston Arms 4/21/42; Stock No 2; Barrel No. 2359F; Hammer Block No. A1182; Hammer No. 1486A; Bolt No. 1198; Locking Cam No. A2509; Firing Pin No. A1785; Extractor No. A0418; Magazine No. A6865; Transferred to J.A. Inc/N.P.C on 4/23/42

per the Instruction manual, page 30, Para. 8,

a. To empty the magazine, set safety lever on "safe", and depress the magazine cover to its full extent. The cartridges then will be forced by the follower into the palm of the hand.

b. Clear the gun by pulling back the operating handle to its fullest extent, extracting the unfired round from the chamber and ejecting it through the ejection port. If the rifle is held with the ejection port down and the left hand under the port, the unfired cartridge will drop into the left hand as it is ejected.

c. To close the bolt when the rifle is empty, depress the magazine cover, pull back the operating handle and release it .
