    A polite reminder of the rules I set up this forum way back in 1998
     

    Keep it clean, no flaming others, stay on topic as best you can. Since most collectors also have a Garand or two, the Forum will be open to Garand collectors too as well as those of all US military weapons in the 1892 to 1945 period.

    The owner of this Site/BBS reserves the right to remove any message at anytime without prior notice or reason being given.

    Do not post street addresses or phone numbers when buying/selling/trading parts, use your e-mail . If you are buying or selling firearms, constituent parts to include barrels, receivers and other internal pieces, please abide by all BATF regulations, and all other applicable laws, rules and ordinances, be they Federal, State or Local to include ITAR if selling or buying outside the US.

    I was looking around on the inter webs this morning and came across this parts company in Poland. 

    In their cut receivers section there were a good selection of cut receivers, all way overpriced in my opinion. One of these was a Johnson receiver, serial number obscured.

    This item would not be allowed importation to size as it is not demilled to BATFE specs  but it’s an interesting paperweight

    Over the years, certain auction houses or dealers claimed they had "Johnson Estate" items, or "special prototypes" with special serial numbers, available for sale at elevated price levels. These claims should all be considered as outright false. The only Johnson Rifle or deactivated LMG products and prototypes, that were in the personal collection of Melvin Maynard Johnson Jr, at the time of his death in 1965, have been directly handled by members of his family. These items are already in the legal possession of a few private collectors or museums and have never been available for sale to the general public. 
     
    One of the more notable items is the "Queen of the Netherlands" rifle # A2913, presented by Melvin Johnson to the Queen in 1942. Only ONE of these was ever made for her. If anyone happens to find another such rifle, simply treat it as a "replica" or "copy" of the real thing, priced accordingly, and not as an "exclusive original."

    In summary, as we always say, buy the gun itself, but not the "story."

    Due to some technical difficulties we are experiencing with logging into and registering on this board we will be moving to a new format and board shortly.

    A beta version of the board is set up and working and arrangements are in place to port all data and members to this new Website Toolbox board.  Hopefully no significant loss of data will occur.  In the meanwhile all data has been backed up on to a remote server.  This new board has received good reviews and is currently the format used by the worldwide Aston Martin Owners Club

    This board will stay active in its current form for 30 days after the new board is online and working correctly.

    I'm not following your point here.  You can buy any MG so long as it's on the registered NFA registry with a Form 4 or Form 3 and not either a pre or post May 86 'dealer sample', with a registration date prior to the May 86 cut off.  Doesn't matter if it's German or not, thus the reasonable amount of H&K MP5's and G3's that were imported and registered immediately prior to the enactment of the Hughes Ammendment in 1986.

    Yep it's a pre- may 86. So you can buy it it you have an 07/01 or 07/02 without a law letter. 

    Still estimate is low. I saw one at Harrisburg mg show for $22k last year. Most likely the same one.

    Looks like a fair LMG.  I think the estimate shown is too low. 

    They also have a JSAR, S/N B6540.  Estimate is probably pretty accurate.

    I have recently had a complaint from a manufacturer concerning some postings that were of a derogatory nature towards him and his business from a member of this site.  Whilst I am all for helping people to spend money on quality products to aid in restorations I do not allow false or inaccurate postings that have no basis or cannot be substantiated.

    The vendor contacted me and was rightly upset by the accusations made, providing me with evidence to show his products are of a good standard and that his business has a good reputation in a variety of market places.

    I have, due to this complaint, removed the offending posts and will be following up with action against the poster.  I am not happy with this situation as it goes against one of the core principles as stated in the site's message to members, "Keep it clean, no flaming others, stay on topic as best you can."

    A friend of mine in has a post Korean war production Springfield Armory M1 rifle for sale.  It is a early 1956 production with the correct 1955 barrel and most parts are period to the rifle, including a nice looking HRA stock (unmarked).  Rifle is NOT CMP derived and has been in the family since the 1960's, when the current owner's grandfather bought it directly from the USAF at St. Louis Arsenal.

    Overall the rifle looks to be in very nice original condition.

    Seller wants $1200 OBO

    I have no interest in this sale, just passing on a good looking rifle for an acquaintance who is ill.

    Thanks Art!

    Had a bit of a server related glitch over the weekend but solved that one.  Saw that there was an upgrade available so I jumped on it as did again this morning.  The new suite is even more seamless to upgrade, which is good!

    Deactivation in UK is done two ways. The original (first way) is simply to cut out the bottome of the barrel at the chamber, wel the barrel release so the barrel cannot be removed and welding a pin into the chamber.the recever will have some sort of cut in the area of the chamber also. The rear rear will be welded to prevent the bolt being removed too. The bolt will have its bolt face chamfered off at 45 degrees. This action will be abled to cycle by hand.

    Second and current way of deactivation is all the above but the action will be weled into the receiver to prevent any cycling or reciprocation of the bolt.
