I am having a hard time touching base with you. My age and no computer skills are not helping.

I have a 1941 Johnson rifle and a 1941 LMG that was put back together with the help of Brian Alpert and

Rodney Richardson. It runs very well on the range, no problems. I was at the Barre,Vt. gun show last week

and was asked if one or both were for sale and offered $ 9000.00 for both. I have no idea what the semi auto

LMG is worth. Any thoughts ?

      Hi Bob

I am sorry that you have been having trouble contacting me. I watch the forum fairly closely, but some times it fails in notifying me of PM's, even though I do check frequently.

The semi-auto LMG, as it is built from a 'cut' receiver', will have less a value, if properly advertised as a cut-receiver'. Uncut SMLG's have  seen slightly higher prices than JSAR's. Recently one very nice one went for $12K back in Sept 2022, and another, with several magazines, went for $14k.

JSAR's have recently run the gambit from $5k and up, with some hitting some astronomical $15-16k. However, there are 3-4 that have sat on Gun Broker for weeks, with the seller asking $10-16K as starting bids.

You might be better off posting photos of both, here on the forum, and see if any forum members either want to offer or give you a better feel for the their potential worth. Or list them yourself on GunBroker or other auction site.

Can you give me a ballpark estimate on the value of a Johnson LMG that has been converted to

semi auto? I was at the Barre, Vt. gun show last weekend and I had someone enquire as I told him

    I had one to sell.

Another pertinent question. Is the LMG semi-auto or not? That will truly affect both price and sale.

      Hi Bob G.

Did you recently make this inquiry? I just saw this, but was not notified, which I normally am.

Is this the gun (7108) that you are referring to? It appears to be a demilled (CUT) receiver, and some parts.

      Advise, and I will proceed
