  1. but I believe the 7.62-mm NATO is somewhat different from the .308 Winchester. The case is the same. The pressures they are loaded to may be different. The real diff. is in chamber size of the firearms, I believe mostly in the throat.
  2. Does the auction house write the descriptions? Aren't there mistakes in several places in descriptions of both of these Rock Island rifles?
  3. Well, I thought I had read enough past posts but I guess not. The barrel is a Garand barrel. This gentleman won't move much off this price and someone will buy the gun thinking it was a Marine rifle. That kinda sucks.
  4. Thanks I will. I know the stock is new as it has one hole under the butt plate instead of 3.
  5. Do they blue the gun or re-park it? That one looks blued??? Does Miltech mark the weapon in any way?
  6. Gentlemen, I'm looking at a Johnson and wanted to get your opinion of it's value. I've mentioned it here before but have looked at it a little closer. The guy wants $4500 for it. I'm worried that the barrel is a replacement. It has a bayo lug and un-filed sight ears. The lug is crisp and new looking and overall the barrel shows very little wear. What markings should be on the barrel to determine originality? It does say 30 '06 and something else on the chamber end of the barrel. The magazine and receiver show some wear and what appears to be original finish. It has the Dutch accecptance mark. The stock is a reproduction. The rear sight has been filed down to a notch, the "Marine" field modification. I don't entertain any thought that the rifle is para-marine gun. I think someone read the book and filed the sight down. Overall it is a very nice piece but the stock and barrel concern me. In seeing what's going on in the G-43/SVT market a part of me wants to snatch up this rifle quickly. What is your opinion?
  7. There is a JSR on Gunbroker with some unusual features. I'm curious as to what the experts here think of it. No offense intended if the seller is a member here as I'm just learning about these rifles.
