  1. Glad to hear you're are back Mr. Scott.
  2. Hello sinker4, I'm new to the Johnson M1941, but was asking the same question last weekend. I found this thread on milsurps.com which was helpful to me. http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=7112 I also asked a similar question on the CMP forum "Ask Each Other" thread and received some imput which is near the end of the thread. http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=56357 Hope this helps! Mm
  3. Hello ryche_me, Thanks for the welcome. I saw some of the serial number rundowns for the non-prefixed rifles. What a terrific bit of history on those rifles. Mine happens to begin with a "B" otherwise I would have posted it already. I appreciate the invite though. It sure would be cool to know its original parts configuration and its first destination. Hopefully someday the other logs will surface. A guy can always hope. I'm happy to have found this website and glad to be aboard. Mm
  4. Mr. Scott, thanks for the tips on headspacing the Johnson M1941. Using the same guages I have for the Garand, the rifle checked out just fine and was within tolerance. I must say it took awhile to come up with the right technique to position the guage/es in the bolt then into the chamber. A little more tricky than with the Garand. I see you come highly recommended by Mr. Johnson for technical questions, parts, and gunsmithing. It's good to know there is someone there to help us that are new to the Johnson M1941. I also want to thank the person / persons that put together the website information on how to detail strip the M1941. That information was tremendously helpful! With that I was able to inspect the rifle I was considering for purchase thouroughly and come to the conclusion It was the right rifle for me. Again, thank you to all that helped in fielding my questions! Mm
  5. Thanks for your reply. It is very helpful! Mm
  6. I saw a M1941 the other day and was told it had never been rebuilt and was all original. I noticed the number on the bolt was different then the serial number on the rifle. My question is, is the number on the bolt a part or drawing number or is it the serial number of the original rifle it was mated to? If the number on the bolt is different than the serial number on the rifle, can it still be the original bolt for that rifle? Also, how does one go about checking head spacing on a Johnson M1941 and where can guages be purchased? Thanks for the help! Minuteman
