  1. No, this is not what I saw. This was a soap opera of sorts, (really very well done and very graphic in violence) it was on every day and followed characters that fought Japan in WW2. The Johnson I saw was scoped also. I can't help but wonder where they got that scoped Johnson. As I said it was featured in many episodes. It was fought over and coveted by many different characters in the series. I don't know what they were saying but they really liked it. Don't blame them, I love my Johnson.
  2. Hello, I just returned from a trip to China. I staryed a month in city of Zhu Hai, close to Hong Kong and Macau. Anyway, I had long periods of time on my hands and began watching Chinese TV, mostly soap operas. The theme of many of them was fight against Japanese in WW2. I found it interesting that they were so historically accurate as to weaponry. Many Mauser broom handles and accurate use of Japanese machine guns. So I am watching an episode (can't understand dialog) and I see a Japanese sniper with a scoped Johnson 1941. By the way, I own a Johnson for many years and have shot deer with it as well as plinking, although I do not shoot it anymore, just too valuable. So, in this episode the Chinese kill the Johnson sniper and take the rifle. There is a fight between two Chinese soldiers as to who gets the rifle, and there is much going back and forth for a couple of episodes. I mean it was neat in that the Johnson rifle was central to the story. They show the rifle in detail as the guys drool over it. Finally an officer comes and takes the rifle for himself, don't know why, I guess to stop fighting. But the rifle shows up numerous times in next episode knocking off Japanese soldiers. So, I wonder if there is any historical accuracy to the Japanese getting their hands on a Johnson 1941?
