Thanks Jim: I guess as with all twice (at least) rebuilds it is to be expected no matches on the numbers. It has always amazed me that these rifles are usually in pertty rough condition stocks and barrels. I think the term being in storage was a misnomer. RMW

Hello all. It has been anumber of years since I was last on this site. I still have my orgional johnson rifle,sold the sporter that I was in the process of reconverting to military, to a Marine friend who finished the project. In the meantime I just finished another sporter (reconverted back to military) for another friend and was seeking information on the serial number. As I recall from years past there was someone who could check those without letter prefix's. the number is 8868. Thanks RMW
