  1. Congratulations, Ridge Runner, it's hard to believe that you had to wait a year to shoot your rifle. You must have been blessed with patience. Yes, many Johnsons suffer from damage to the brass, some more than others but it is repairable and there is a thread on this site that discusses it in detail with very helpful advice from Joe Scott. Hope you get to shoot your Johnson SAR a lot more in the future and don't you just love the crowds and discussions that it draws? Mike
  2. Hello all, Thank you for the info, Walt, and the pic, Art. Walt, I will send you a check this afternoon. The shirts look great and I've gotta have one. Thanks again, Mike
  3. Hey Walt, What shirts are these that you're talking about? If they're Johnson related then can I get one also? Thanks, Mike
  4. Ridge Runner, Just go to Joe Scott's web site, jmscottparts.com, and look at the parts blow up for the Johnson rifle. The bolt stop plate is part number 3x and the plunger is on the right side of it. On your rifle it is located at the top-rear of the receiver. You have to push the plunger and lift the stop plate to remove the bolt assy. from the rifle. I think it is pretty unlikely that you extra spring came from this part. I hope that I've explained this clearly enough. If you already knew this and I misunderstood your question then I apologize Good luck, Mike
  5. capthowie, He's been up and running for at least 4-weeks that I know of. I'm sure you don't need this but just in case; jmscottparts.com I just received new stocks and a new barrel from him yesterday, nice product!! Mike
  6. Ridge Runner, I thought I'd throw my two cents in and suggest a spare magazine door spring or two. I keep a bolt catch and an ejector because it just seems like a good idea, but two door springs because the only problem I have ever personally experienced, and only on one of my JSAR's, is with that door spring, (and I hope it stays that way!). Happy Easter, Mike
  7. fellow enthusiast, You, and Ed, are absolutely right about the quality factor. When I started looking for a stock I found Sarco and Numrich and I ordered a butt stock from Numrich. Shortly after, it arrived with a crack at the butt plate seam, where the recoil spring tube is located. Even though they had it listed as "Excellent Condition" and "Like New", it was neither. I sent it back and I soon found Joe Scott's web site and he not only has parts that they do not but Joe's parts come with some great advice and in beautiful condition. Most important of all, when Joe tells you something, you can believe it! Mike
  8. Hi Ed, Please don't misunderstand my suggestion to Tucker, I just received a set of stocks and a barrel from Joe Scott, (along with a manuel and DVD), and I'm hooked on getting my parts, and advice, from Joe. He's been really helpful to me. And, I've been sitting on the fence about buying the Johnson book but I think that now I will. Thanks for the advice. Mike
  9. Hi Tucker, It's Mike again, I was reading through the postings and realized your not as new to this site as I originally thought so, sorry about that. Anyway, I noticed that you got your Johnson recently and I wanted to know how you like it? I have two that I bought in the 1980s and I love them. Johnson's are not the best shooters at the range but I love their style and history. Mike
  10. Hi Tucker, I'm new to this board too. I've gotten parts from Numrich and Sarco seemed to have a decent supply of some parts, ( in my case, I wanted some extra magazine door springs on-hand), and I received them within days. Give them a try and see if they have what you need. Good luck, Mike
  11. Hi, I'll be receiving a new set of stocks from Joe tomorrow but I also tried Numrich and received a sporter w/ cheekpad but sent it back because I noticed a crack at the butt plate seam, right where the recoil spring tube would be. They had at least four others. I'm banking on Joe Scott's stocks though. Hope this helps. This is my first posting on this board. I'm Mike and I'm glad to be on board. Thanks, Mike
