I'll toss in a $100 too. I agree with everyone here that they should be in the hands of an appropriate caretaker. 

If you have a milling machine you may be able to clamp your sight in the vice and have a stamping tool in your quill to mark it. That would make it easy to move it .025 at a time if you make one mark at a time. Not sure how hard the material is to stamp a mark into, but it should be pretty accurate that way. With a hard pointed tool you could drag a line whatever length you need. They aren't very deep so it may work. Mine are .150" long. Just throwing ideas out there.

 I wonder if the edge of a file could be used to make a stamp using the existing teeth. I count 15 marks in .375" on the leaf. Maybe something to experiment with first. Just a thought.I

Very close! The one I have is 1.150" tall. Outside diameter is .720. Inside diameter is .589. Your other measurements only differ no more than .003 to .005. Yours being greater. Bottom of lug to bottom of inside diameter bore is .495. Width of lug is .435. and .245 between grooves from side to side Good Luck

If it has 30-05 on the guide collar, that would be unusual. In his listing, it comes with 2 barrels, 30-06 and 7mm mauser. I'm surprised gunbroker didn't catch it. As Blueheeler and Walt state,  the seller did put together some nice photos.

I just recently modified a sporter stock and used a 7/64" bit for the sling swivel screw holes. I think ideally a small tapered bit would be better. For the the  buttplate I used  a 5/32" bit. The buttplate screws I used are actually for a 1903 springfield. I dont know if they are the same as what was actually used, but they work fine. They really do not have a deep thread that bites in so you have to be careful when putting them in the first time so that you dont strip the wood out, especially in the end grain. Dont ask me how I know that. Use some wax or soap to lube them a little if they seem tight or turn especially hard. You may have to work them in and out a little at a time. Trigger guard screw would be same as the swivel screws. Take your time, if the wood is especially hard you may need to drill slightly larger. There are charts available through online search that show drill sizes for wood screws, usually smaller for softwoods and larger for hardwood.
