I have no real idea what this barrel is worth. Can anyone give me an idea of what I should be asking for this barrel? Original barrels can't be easy to find in any condition - this one looks great, but like I stated, it's pretty well worn. Anyone interested, feel free to make an offer. Thanks.....

Hello, I have a original 41' Johnson 30.06 barrel for sale. This is not a very good shooter barrel, in fact it is well worn. The exterior finish and crown are excellent though! Has a bore, but dark. I did a "bullet test" with a .308 round (all I had available) and it passed well, but found a 30.06 round later and it failed the "bullet test" I thought they were both .30 cal and the same diameter? I guess not! This is a barrel for someone who is restoring a sporter back to a original military configuration and wants a correct barrel, but isn't too concerned about shooting accuracy or performance. The "bullet test" pictured is with the .308 round. This one is for show - not much for go! Still a great looking original barrel. Thanks....

I am going to try one of the 1950's sporter butt stocks from Gunparts Corp. It is said to have been made to Johnsons original military stock spec's, but with a cheek rest. I have ordered one as a substute for the one I cracked on my JSAR. I am going to sand off the cheek rest and refinish it to mil spec. Hopefully it will be a good one (sub) while I have my original repaired and restored. I can let you know how it works out after I get it and modify it to Mil specs.

I am selling one of my JSAR's. I have 2 "B" prefix rifles and this is the best of the two. It originates from the estate of retired WWII US Marine. Rifle is in about 95% condition with original finish. This rifle was discussed on the Forum back in December. The dealer that bought the estate put it up for discussion. I would be keeping this one, but I unfortunatly fired the other "B" prefix Johnson. When I fired it, the stock cracked! I am asking $5250 for this rifle, which is the blue book value. Hi Jim, Thanks again for all your help. Looks like the barrel and mag have been replaced. All numbered parts are correct per your data with the exception of those two parts. The barrel is now 504e, and the mag is c1944. I think the finish looks like it should. I've tried to attach a couple pictures. Thanks again, Buzz

Jim, Thank you for the information. This leads me to another question...... Since the rifle were not assembled using a system to match all the part numbers (serial number and individule parts), is it common or to find a "B" serial block rifle with later block (C,D,E etc) numbered parts? The serial number 1198 has a "A" block barrel. The two "B" block rifles I have both have later (C,D.&E) block parts. Is this "normal" because the parts subcontractors or parts manufacturing lines were ahead in production of the numbered parts? I guess to make a long question short, is it OK for a "B" serial number rifle to have C'D' or E marked parts? Thanks again, Bill

Ed, Thank you for your direction, any direction is appriciated! Any input on which serial number block is more desirable for a collection? Or, is pretty much any Johnson rifle in nice shape a "keeper" about equally? Any info on the SN: 1198 ? Is there a websight that I can access information from the Netherlands Purchasing Commission? Has anyone seen the Johnson on Gunbroker? Auction # 92879915 Is this rifle real or bogus? The ordanance marks look like the ones sold by Gunparts Corp! Check it out.....
