  1. Ah yes those were the good old days for Johnsons and ammo too!

  3. Well somebody bought it 21 hours ago.
  4. Congrats! No bugs for me or thee...
  5. Try these vendors. Both are longshots but you never know till you try... gunparts@hsnp.com "FIRING PINS; For over 1450 Models!" ( Bob's Gun Shop Inc. Po Box 200 Royal AR 71968 ) http://www.leesgunparts.com/index.html
  6. The truly amazing things to me are that there were 22 bids and that it sold for $1105
  7. Joseph Scott on here may still have some springs and they are the correct 12 inch length.
  8. Here you go for easy ordering online. https://www.mcmaster.com/standard-washers/lock-washers/ I have used these people for years and been very satisfied. Note that you may have to choose a Metric size internal-tooth washer for black oxide finish. https://www.mcmaster.com/standard-washers/lock-washers/metric-internal-tooth-lock-washers/

  10. Just for clarification from the SAMMI website. 7x57 vs 30/06. ANSI-SAAMI-Z299.4-CFR-Approved-2015-12-14-Posting-Copy_(1).pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7×57mm_Mauser ANSI-SAAMI-Z299.4-CFR-Approved-2015-12-14-Posting-Copy.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.30-06_Springfield

  12. Is a Winfield Standard Sporter C&R ? I know a full Mil-Spec one would be per ArtR 's post here: http://johnsonautomatics.com/messageboard/index.php?/topic/2627-cr-list/
  13. Brian said "I tend to hoard" It's not hoarding...it's planning ahead!
  14. "What would be the point of modifying it to other calibers?" Hi Ed. Some have lots of this 8x57MM Mauser Romanian ammo around and it was obtained at a bargain price compared to 30/06 or 7x57MM Mauser. However factor in the price of a new barrel and the gunsmithing cost...well the choice is questionable IMHO. It is good ammo and here is a review on Forgotten Weapons: https://www.forgottenweapons.com/ammo-evaluation-romanian-8mm-mauser/
  15. From Ammoland: https://www.ammoland.com/2020/12/orm-d-small-arms-ammunition-shipping-ending-in-december/?utm_source=Ammoland+Subscribers&utm_campaign=0ca22a95a4-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6f6fac3eaa-0ca22a95a4-20588801#axzz6h0miGM9B https://saami.org/transportation-and-storage-regulation-information/transport-data-sheets/
  16. "Again, might a silencer affect the recoil performance?" Yes unless sniping using the charging handle like a bolt gun until the silencer was removed. Another thought it could be threaded for blank adapter use in a movie gun. Would not in either case be able to self load due to not enough recoil impulse...IMHO
  17. "the muzzle the ID was bored oversize and threaded about 1/2 inch deep with fairly fine threads" Old European silencer mounting. Mostly in pistols though. Seen a few Walther's and Beretta's threaded this way. No external threads to give away the mounting at a quick glance.
  18. Welcome to both of you from Washington State
  19. This update was posted about 3 hours ago. "Hit me if you got an offer , going to move these to auction site soon thanks for looking" Might want to keep an eye on the usual auctions if interested.
  20. Saw this today. Not sure of details. Anyone know this seller? "BAKER72" "Im in the SF Bay Area, east bay" No photos posted. "Johnson 1941 rifle this rifle has a Danish replacement barrel , the top part of the rear sight is a repo other than that the gun is perfect the receiver hasn’t been molested it shows all the original machining marks with crisp edges in other words no one has ever taken a buffer wheel to this receiver as so many Johnson had done to them , the rear stock had been sportrized and it has been replaced with an original WW2 stock , I’m not sure I want to sell this gun I had plan to keep it forever so I’m firm on the price" $6,999.00
  21. The Dec 31st. 69 join date might be misleading as there was a default to that "join date" in the old forum. IIRC
  22. I know that these rifles were war production but I was surprised to see the final digit ( 7 ) of the serial number B2277 stamped so far out of alignment with the other digits.
  23. $6900 OTD each!!! More $$$ than brains IMHO those bidders be...but then look at the selling prices of houses in the greater Seattle area.
  24. Per ArtR " Joe Scott has a DVD video that he did a number of years ago that takes you through the complete disassembly/assembly process" I would buy the DVD due to the fact that anti gun Google owns YouTube and that video might disappear soon.
  25. Hi russojap, Nice to see you on this forum!
