  1. For those that want one: http://www.gunauction.com/buy/12668966/rifles-for-sale/semi-auto-rifle/chilean-johnson-model-1941-7mmx57-mauser-semi-auto-rifle-and-bayonet-c-and-r-ok. S/N: 6048
  2. Looks like there was a bidding war between 2 bidders and then the bid by the winner was more than either of those 2 were willing to pay. What about the one that sold last year for more than $13,000 IIRC? You just never know...
  3. Thanks for the report Joseph.

  5. Hi Steve, Hi gloss blue.
  6. Glad you got it Steve. When it gets to you maybe we can get together and compare notes. I have a Winfield sporter and live in Mukilteo
  7. I have an original buttplate. PM me with your email address and I will send pic's.
  8. LSA is available here: http://e-sarcoinc.co...h.aspx?find=LSA http://www.charleyssurplus.com/index.php?route=product/search&keyword=lsa or at a military surplus store in your area. I have been hearing a lot of good news about Mobil 1 synthetic grease for pistols and rifles that need grease.
  9. I have a 8mm x 57mm barrel that I want to use in my rifle. Does anybody have a rifle barrel guide they would want to trade for a Dror guide?
  10. Pictures please!
  11. Thanks Brian I'll keep you posted on how it works out. I'll be looking for a 8mm DROR flashider too.
  12. OK the barrel arrived. The bore is excellent and the outside is very very good. Locking bushing looks great too! I see the barrel guide collar is of a different configuration. Does anybody have a spare for the rifle? I have a DROR barrel guide, Rifle buttplate, Rifle bayonet lug, and a Rifle swivel for trade or part trade.
  13. Sorry I mis-stated. I meant to say a flashider. A muzzlebrake is just not needed IMHO. Being recoil operated I would think a common style blank adapter would not function the rifle. It would have to be of the impulse muliplier type.
  14. Thanks for the heads-up. I bought it so I shall see if I stuck myself again... I have tons of 8mm x 57mm and will try to make it work in the Johnson. I even have a tin of Romanian steel case. It has a 154 grain bullet so it may work well. The threaded barrel may get a light weight custom muzzle brake also. Does anybody know what the bayonet weighs? I guess that would be the maximum weight for the muzzle brake to ensure functioning.
  15. Joeseph, Sorry about your eye and I hope you are well soon. If you you are thinking about a new LCD or LED flatscreen TV, most have PC or HDMI inputs so you could kill 2 birds with one buy. I will soon be using a 37 inch LCD Toshiba as a monitor. Much easier to see...
  16. I would think that a 140 grain bullet would be closer to the M2 Ball bullet recoil impluse, a 150 grain flat base bullet, as it is only 10 grains lighter, rather than a 173 grain bullet which is 23 grains heaver. After all the M1941 is a recoil operated rifle and bullet weight is an important factor.
  17. From Gunboards forum member ammolab, who has forgotton more about ammo than most people know, states: "The Pointed bullet was a 140gr FMJBT. This ammo has alway seemed one of the poorest quality surplus in 7x57 that I have run across."
  18. Notice I have no interest in this rifle and this post is for informational and discussion only. Nice looking M1941 for $6800 with bayo/scabbard. Appears to be s/n A4076 or A4876.
  19. Also the DVD he has for sale is a treasure chest of disassembly and maintenance tips. He also is a big fan of LSA for lubing the M1941.
  20. A good cleaning is necessary and will help. But do not use the the 11-1/2" spring as the short spring can cause ejection problems, fired cases most likely will be dented and thrown too far away. Also this cause a violent ejection of the fired case. The 11-7/8" spring may work but for $20 + shipping you can get a new recoil spring from Joseph Scott.
  21. Welcome aboard! After kicking myself for 27 years, for passing up one when I could have afforded it, I was able to finally pick up mine. Albeit a Winfield Sporter...It's still a Johnson.
  22. FAL inch pattern aka L1A1. Actually 9/16 x 24 RH. IIRC
  23. It was LEEP I think. http://johnsonautomatics.com/messageboard/index.php?showtopic=1762
  24. The DVD was very helpful to me. Highly recommended.
  25. First tell us about the ammo you shot. Then check the wear on the muzzle of the barrel like this. Stick the bullet nose first into the muzzle and see how far it goes. If the bullet goes all the way in, the muzzle is bad. You can tell the condition by how deep the bullet goes.
