Sorry to hear this.

Best of luck Joe. Quick recovery. My brother had heart surgery a few weeks ago.

I wanted to scream a little.

I was wondering who could put on a sight and bayonet lug on 1941 rifle? Approximate cost?
-
That's some nice ones too.
-
The first one(B6517) looks like a butchered Winfield. A little like mine. I would think that price is a little crazy. The rest are much nicer. My 2 cents worth anyway.

I remember someone talking about they asked a tech from a barrel company, and they said it would have to be at least 1000 barrels before they would set up.

Thanks, Ed. That's nice to know.

I wondered does anybody know of a company that has made Johnson replacement barrels?
-
Thanks Mr. Scott. I do need to find more history on them.
-
I know this is probably a stupid question but, have wondered this for some time. I know the U.S. did and Dutch West Indies but, have never heard anywhere else. Thanks

I just checked Numrich and Sarco. They're both out.

Imgone, what I meant was the majority of people are not into milsurps. Sure I can go to a gunshow and see a lot of guys looking at milsurp rifles but, most hunters and shooters don't have a use for one.

Was yours original except stock? If so thats good. A lot had sporter barrels put on.
-
I've wondered if anybody on here does this. There's not anything like this around where I live. I think as a whole military rifles are not all that popular. Most people could care less.

I've got a Winfield. Its got a sporter barrel with the sporter sight and hood. The butt stock has been changed and it had a weird butt plate. I changed out the butt plate with a reproduction. It still has original rear sight and nothing else seems changed out. Some rifles Winfield went crazy with. Monte Carlo stocks, some had cheekpieces. High gloss blueing, some had drilled and tapped recievers.

They've had a few.........

Yeah, that's a nice one. Its looks like it has not been messed with. Normal wear for a rifle of its age too.
-
Hope to see pics soon. Have a good one.

Did you start with a 1903 barrel? Looks good by the way. Do it yourself, is about the only way to go on these. Its a shame the barrels are so rare and expensive. May I ask why you decided to make a barrel? Was yours damaged or had a bad bore?
-
Looks like what Winfield usually put on their sporter barrels. Some had a hood on the sight.
-
www.gunpartscorp.com has the rear sight assembly and elevator.
-
I don't have enough cuss words to describe that..........
-
You definately don't see very many of these anywhere.

I bet your right. People sometimes go crazy on auctions.

Does anyone have any idea how many rifles Winfield molested?
