  1. Putting together a small spare parts kit. I am in need of a firing pin and spring. If anybody may have a spare of both please let me know. I have a in my kit now, Extractor F/R pins Main spring I plan on putting some rounds through my 1941 Johnson this summer so I figure to have a few parts on hand just in case. If anybody else can recommend parts that may be good to have on hand please chime in. Thanks David
  2. Hello and welcome to the forum. Yes, Mr Alpert should have info on your rifle serial # As far as unloading a 1941 Johnson. I would say engage the trigger safety, point rifle in a safe direction and manually cycle the bolt until all live rounds have ejected from the action. Last round should lock bolt open although some 1941's lack a bolt hold open. Double check to make sure magazine and chamber are empty.
  3. That's slick. Well done ! Big thing is the tube is not damaged during install or removal. Makes you wonder how they were installed at the factory ?
  4. Very nice collection. Bayonet prices have gone sky high for the Johnson. I picked up a repro from Sarco recently. That will have to hold me for now.
  5. Crazy money for sure !
  6. I would be interested in one of the extractors if you decide to sell individually Thanks
  7. In the Johnson archives is there any information on barrel twist rates? I'm thinking 1-10 / 1- 12 possibly. Thanks
  8. Barrel has sold ! Thank you
  9. Have a 1941 Johnson sporter barrel for sale. See link to the CMP forum for photos and details. Thanks http://forums.thecmp.org/showthread.php?t=255565 Hope this is OK to post here. Thanks David H.
  10. Nicely done, looks great !
  11. Updated with pictures. No lower band clip groove present and the slots for an M1 Garand upper hand guard clip are not oriented in the correct manner and are far to short in the chamber area. Pic of the chamber as good as I could get of the 03 or 03A3 extractor cut. i am fairly certain this barrel was originally a 1903 / 03A3 barrel. Quite surprised that there has been zero interest in it considering the cost of original barrels these days.
  12. Hello Brian, Thank you for your insight on the barrel. I am going to post some more pics of the barrel. Still leaning to the barrel to be of an 03-A3 origin because of the extractor cut in the front of the chamber seen through the installed locking block and an indexing mark on the side of the barrel associated with 03 and 03A3 barrels but, at the same time it has the remnants of hand guard clip slots as with an M1 Garand barrel. Thanks David H. $375.00 Shipped Now $350.00 shipped

  15. Just an FYI to the forum members Sarco has 1941 bayo's and scabbards available now for $125 plus shipping. I snagged one. From the pictures they look pretty good. Original ones are just going for insane amounts $$ No affiliation with Sarco David H.
  16. There's at least two JSAR's in good old Taxachusetts and more gun clubs and ranges than you may think !
  17. Great.. I just cant see paying $600 to $900 for something that will sit in my safe or be displayed once and a while. Hope Sarco's repro bayonet and scabbards hold somewhat true to original specs. I will try to post up some pics when it arrives.
  18. Try Numrich gun parts. I have had some good luck with them on smaller parts. May be after market repro's FYI http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Johnson-33325/Semi-Auto1941-36753.htm Hope this helps David
  19. Glad to see the forum back up and running. Thank you guys !!
  20. Great looking original barrel over on GB. The bidding is starting to get into the silly category but, to be expected. To much for my wallet. David http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=557123621
  21. Brian , Joe Thanks for all your info and knowledge on the Johnson rifle. So my question is could you both point myself and the rest of the forum followers in the right direction to have a gunsmith build up a barrel. My aim is to have an as new recreational shooter barrel rather than purchase an original Johnson barrel. Which, seems to be an act of congress even to find one. I have the parts from my unknown origin barrel on my rifle front sight, bay lug, locking bushing an barrel guide collar. I have heard the use of O3A3 barrels, M1 Garand barrels and as Brian stated above Remington 700 barrels. Is there a gunsmith you gentlemen could recommend? And whats the difficulties? Cost rough idea? There has to be quite a few folks out there that need a replacement barrel. Thanks David
  22. Hello all, Just an FYI there is a altered Johnson rifle barrel for sale on EBay. The front sight has been removed and the barrel cut back to add threads and a muzzle break, no bayo lug. Could be a Winfield sporter barrel. Rest of the barrel seems to be in good shape. To bad the muzzle got chopped. Original JA 30.06 and matching #'s on the chamber and block. No relation to the seller just passing along the info, link below in case anyone is interested. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-M1941-Johnson-30-06-Rifle-Barrel-1941-Altered-Gun-Parts-Gunsmith-Scarce-/331784754685?hash=item4d3fe995fd:g:t7kAAOSwe7BWymGD David
  23. I have been looking for a 1941 barrel for quite sometime and have had no luck. If you did find and original in good condition I'm sure it would set you back $600 to $800 minimum. I did reach out to Criterion Barrels via email and asked if they had any interest in producing a new replacement 1941 Johnson barrel. There response was, that they have had some previous inquiry's for Johnson barrels but, they would need a minimum order of 50 barrels to do a full production run. I have had very positive results with there M1 Garand barrels both in 30.06 and 308. Seems like a new replacement barrel would be the way to go. Well.... I'm in for at least 1 possibly 2 depending on price anybody else?? LOL Thanks David
  24. Tanker, Sent you a PM
  25. Hello all, First post here with a lot of questions but, last week after many years I was able to purchase JSA serial # 7877 (no prefix) so that should put it in the first run produced to my understanding. The rifle is in overall good to excellent condition. The wood, barrel and internals all look to be in above average condition with decent park left. However,it does have some needs in order to get back to original condition which is my goal. The receiver was drilled and tapped with four holes for a scope mount and the complete rear sight is missing (some parts on hand from seller). On a good note the dovetail on the receiver was left intact so the rear sight should be able to be replaced. Were to find parts? The barrel does not have a bayonet lug. I have heard that some rifles lacked the lug is this a possibility with mine and again if I want the lug can it be installed on my barrel? I see a forum member is able to post info from records from the Johnson factory for the first run of 10,000 rifles. If there is any info on mine it would be much appreciated ser. # 7877. Thanks much! David
