  1. Hey guys I wanted to give y’all the first shot at this before it goes to auction in April for a JSAR that I had and many of you on here helped with returning back to milspec. The Johnson was lightly sporterized when I got it and now it’s as close to milspec as you can get without an original stock.

what I had replaced was the charging handle, and the stock was redone to accept a standard original buttplate I replaced the recoil spring and I have shot it and shoots great.

it has the standard Cranston arms roll mark and Dutch acceptance stamp and the 30-06 barrel collar but this is a Winfield sporter so this is a m1 garand barrel.

    here is the serial info.

I need to sell for personal issues with my child so I’m looking to sell at 3500 obo.

Check out the pics. I’m currently in Florida right now and I will be back Friday to take any more pics if anyone wants to see more.

ill ship to your FFL and I’ll pay for the shipping and any insurance you want and a hard case too.

    thanks

  2. Thanks to everyone on here that helped with my JSAR conversion back to milspec. It was much appreciated. It took 6 months to get this ol girl back to her original glory and I have to say it was fun tracking down parts and talking to y’all on here to get it done correctly.

now off to the range to shoot and put it away for awhile preserve it for the next generation.

  3. Morning fella’s

looking through gunbroker like I usually do and came across this Johnson posted this morning. Looks like a hybrid LMG and Semi Auto.

it looks weird just wanted to know if it was actually legit or some Frankenstein. I admit I don’t know a lot about the LMG versions of the Johnson.

i know this is an active auction so if it’s against the rules please remove.

  4. I have a standard sporter stock that I’m looking to sell. Maybe someone can use it and make it work. it is the usual Winfield standard sporter that was cut at the buttstock so it will take some work to get a buttplate attached to to it.  Looks like a small tang crack that was fixed a while ago. No other cracks thanks

    no hardware included just wood.

looking for 250.00  I’ll take PayPal and I’ll ship it directly to you.

  5. Good morning ,

anyone out there have a repro or original key and screws for the recoil tube in the buttstock? The parts that hold the tube in place in the buttstock.

last few parts I need for the restoration. I tried asking mr.  Scott but I don’t think none of messages make it through to him .. weird

any help would be great thanks

  6. Man that looks nice with the tiger striping.. I would not have changed it either. Mine on the other hand has been sanded so much and about 1 inch and half cut off rear that the buttplate is too big.. other than grinding down a buttplate to make it look good I just waited to get an original stock which I finally did. So I don’t have to worry about recoil tube placement and function since this is an original stock should be good

  7. I just got one actually on gunbroker now that the auction is over with. It’s original and it has some stock chips here or there but it will work. Once I get it and switch it out I’ll probably post the sporter stock on here to sell if anyone can use it.  I just need the recoil tube and key to hold it in place.  Last thing I gotta do to get it back to milspec.

and I got it less than Murray’s stock at 899.00. So I’m happy

  8. Ok this is probably beyond my expertise to do as I have none of this experience at all. Thanks for the info.

ill have to find someone who has worked on these rifles before to do that. At least I know what to do now.

joseph I would like to buy the screw and threaded key from you. Let me know what I owe you and I’ll send a check or PayPal whatever is easier.

    thanks

  9. Yes sir I did last night I found that old post where he was saying that

in a Winfield sporter stock that has the screw hole covered up by a piece of wood, does the stock still have that screw under the wood or did they remove them all together? This is what I have.

     thanks

  10. Hello y’all

I am almost finished restoring this Johnson I have and the very last thing I need to do is replace the buttplate on the rifle. This rifle was sporterized in its past and the butt stock has been sanded. The dimensions are off and the plate is about 5/8 inches too big and there is a slight overhang. Plus the top of the stock is not inletted for the buttplate. Is there anyway around this with what I have or do I need to source another buttstock?

assuming this is a standard winfield sporter.

thanks for any and all help in this matter.

  11. Good morning, I finally have a jsar that has been returned to military spec after finding a buttplate, bayonet lug, front sight which mine was grounded down, and some more small odds and ends to make this thing whole. Thanks to mr. Scott, Artr, rifleman1, dhazel74 and brian  for supplying  the requested parts. Yall made a world of difference.

My serial number is 4727 which was slightly sporterized I'm assuming by Winfield and had a ground down front sight. Any information on its production would be great and I will add it to the rifle history as I do with all my other military surplus. I'll finally post some pics of it when I get it back together. Long process to find parts and strip the stock and stain it back to the deep red but well worth it.

    Thanks again.
