  1. Awesome job on the restoration! You obviously been around the block with these projects. I have the same question as Art, tell us about your test fire box please.
  2. WOW! It’s doubled in price with the bids since I’ve last looked. Have to wonder what’s going to happen with the sellers and reasoning for keeping the auction up for bids.
  3. I agree with rarecat, looks like possibly a Miltec, not that it’s a bad thing. Looks like a Reproduction stock, Picture #18 shows another non factory cartouch. The discription says it was in the safe for 25 years. How long has miltec been around?
  4. Here’s some pictures of mine, I need to compare it to the new auction.
  5. I talked to your wife and she said it was okay to buy it! Good luck with this!
  6. I actually have one that has the same color wax on it, some of the wax is partially removed. I’ve posted pictures on the forum of it last year. I’ve been watching this auction as well.
  7. They updated the auction, it has been sold locally. I have actually been to this gun store located in Ramona, I had stopped in to check inventory and they had two JSAR’s on the shelf for a pretty decent price in 2017 I thought. It was right after I bought my first JSAR. By the time I decide to buy them, they were sold.
  8. Members, I’ve decided to sell off some of my excess barrels and some sporter butt stocks, a blank and one original. I don’t think I will need them. Send me a message or email at camstuff@yahoo.com and I’ll send you the list and prices. Thanks: Torrey
  9. In the past there has been questions about the JSAR charging handle, removal from bolt, disassemble and other things. Joseph had talked about the similar Remington model 8 charging handle and recommended NEVER to use it on a JSAR, so don’t use it on a JSAR! ……This continues into something I did not expect…….So I stumbled upon an internet article about Bonnie and Clyde the other day. Interesting article. I was reading about what guns they used, and when I came across the fact that a Remington model 8 was the rifle that ended Clyde’s life. Then I remembered the post about Joseph’s thoughts. Just thought it was interesting coincidence and wanted to share. I was going to challenge the members to find out what significant event happened with the Remington 8, wasn’t sure if you would want to play the game.
  10. Try this link to the Johnson bayonet. it does look like a reproduction to me. http://www.johnsonautomatics.com/Bayonet.htm
  11. Yep, that muzzle brake threw me off. All fun rifles!
  12. Congratulations on your new addition? You will certainly enjoy shooting it. so I’m going take a guess in your collection. SKS, VZ52 possible the 7.62x39 version, French MAS 49/56, Argentine & Venezuelan, Lungman, and then possibly a HK 91, not quite sure about that one and the one on the far right.
  13. Having that backup generator Art is a huge game saver, especially during that extreme cold event, and it’s not over yet. Those lineman really do earn their pay. Merry Christmas!!!
  14. Seller did well with this.
  15. No taxes is always a good thing!
  16. If this doesn’t work out for you, I have a shooter grade I could sell.
  17. Magazine spring showed up on eBay this morning. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134368714156?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=RJ68qz58Qt2&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=kUwiwZIgQja&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=EMAIL
  18. Oh my!! Looks like grafting work. I don’t know, I’m no expert, but it looks a bit scary and dangerous.
  19. Pretty nice, looks original to me. Nice find! Have fun at the range with it.
  20. Wish I could help and learn from Joe, it would be an amazing opportunity, however unfortunately, we are about 1500 miles from each other. I really do hope that someone can take the reins.
  21. I did have to remove the tube from a sporter stock because I desperately needed the tube for an original stock I acquired. I put blue painters tape on the stock and carefully did my layout on the opposite side of the wood plug, also making sure several times my markings were correct before drilling. I ended up missing the center of the key and could tell I hit the edge. But which edge! as it turned out the wood plug was not exactly over the center of the key, I ended up drilling a few more holes to be able to remove the key and salvage the tube in good shape. I definitely would have a different approach if I have to do it again.
  22. Thanks for the link, and yes, I did come across this video already, thanks for posting. I do a little research every night, but unfortunately not enough information available for these old trap and skeet machines. I did find a interesting avenue to look into though, and that apparently western advertised In the older Shooters Bibles, and I happen to have some I need to open up and start looking. I am also into the odd and unusual antiques and amazed as to how things were made before the precision machinery came around.
  23. Off topic, looking for info on my vintage Western Master Skeet thrower. I’ve searched the internet and have not found my exact model yet. This was given to me about 15 years ago, I had to add a plywood base and make shift cocking handle and foot release and it works great. Smooth action and throws them pretty far. It looks to have been mounted on a stand which allowed it to pivot left and right, this also has adjustment for level and up and down. This thing must weigh 80 to 100lbs, that’s why I have lifting ropes attached. I’ve seen other types with electric and different type of cocking handle but non are exactly like my model. This is where you members might be able to help. The story behind this is, it use to be mounted on a navy ship, and only the officers had access to use it. Could this be true? A older good friend gave it to me, so I do believe the story. It also came with an electric actuator which I don’t know how it mounted. I was able to upload a couple of pictures, the rest of them had errors loading
  24. Thank you Art and Whig! I’ll check those links.
  25. It does look nice, but I don’t think it’s original, I see only one hole instead of the three holes in the end of the butt stock which I believe is a major identifier for originality.
