  1. Kind of a crude picture edit, but I learned early on from Joseph Scott that you want to make sure that there is 8” from center of screw to center of screw. You will find sporters that measure 7-7/8” or less. It affects the recoil impact on the buffer if it’s not right.
  2. Hi Andrew, Well you came to the right place to start your research into your M1941, just like all the other new owners and members of the M1941 before you. Art beat me to idea of posting pictures. This would really be the best way to show us what you have and then the experienced members here can help identify exactly what you have. Give us a try!
  3. Looks like 4805 or 4806 to me. Picture is not that clear. Also seller has nothing else up for auction, hasn’t had any feedback in 6 months. This is a flag for me, this account may have been hacked and using old pictures to sell this.
  4. I remember some people having issues with Murray. I would advise doing some search’s for Murry or Murray’s stocks just to read up on what you might encounter.
  5. This is definitely fascinating to me. Lots of knowledge to hopefully pass down to the younger generation Art.
  6. I think I see something possibly wrong with the firing pin spring. It could be installed backwards. I think I see the tail of the spring, when it should be the other direction. It should extend into the crimped washer. Mine are also bent over so they don’t slide off.
  7. Seriously, I think this should be an episode on “How It’s Made”. The process is pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  8. It seems our area can’t make up its mind if it’s spring or winter yet either. You do have it worse in Vermont so I’m not complaining. Like reading about your progress.
  9. Yep, and all we can see is the exterior, imagine what bubba did to the interior!
  10. Don’t know anything about these, but its a 5.7 Johnson barrel, spotted this today . https://www.ebay.com/itm/256416050477?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Gm066x7KQru&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=kUwiwZIgQja&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=EMAIL
  11. That’s a very nice looking JSAR!
  12. Someone bought it for $6500, the buy it now price.
  13. Nice looking stock, and the serial number is rather attractive. I do have to agree with tsmgguy. This sporter should remain a sporter.
  14. I kind of think that 1890 has been reparked as well. I looked at the others on Proxy bid and saw one that looked correct, but missing some parts and I think the stock was cracked.
  15. My biggest concern about 1890 is it looks like it has some extra stampings on the opposite side from the Cranston arms. The rear sight had been removed, why and was it installed correctly. Also the wood to metal fit looks fair to good, but at the tail end the picture cuts it off and quite see if it’s proper. (See pictures)
  16. I believe Joseph Scott mentioned a few years ago that the ring is crimped into place and will crimp around some indentations machined into the firing pin. And if it loose and slides back and forth, you will likely experience slam fires like I did with mine.
  17. WOW, That’s a nice looking rifle. Great buy! You won’t be disappointed, and don’t be afraid to shoot it! Have some fun with it.
  18. PM sent. 1-8-24
  19. I saw this too, and immediately had suspicious thought's about the wording. I would definitely pass on this. There is some good information on this site about how to identify bayonets, Including the sheathing stitching and some other indicators. If you haven’t viewed this, check it out. Hopefully the link will work for you all. http://www.johnsonautomatics.com/Bayonet.htm
  20. I was watching that one too. There’s another one that showed up today on Gun broker that looks good to me.
  21. Perhaps a conversion cartidge. Larger caliber to a 22Lr.
  22. Ha ha, love it. Merry Christmas. I have no idea what that could be, I’ll be watching for the reveal.
  23. This punctuation quote made me think of your comment.
  24. Ha ha, I set that statement up well, didn’t I !
  25. I didn’t realize it was so large!
