I concur with EB's guidance with one caveat. The Johnson produced ammo might have a higher collector value than the Square D. I know I'd pay more for it based on condition, etc. The Square D ammo is shooter quality

Unfortunately I too would recommend not placing any hope of Murrays delivering. A friend of mine sent a receiver and trigger group at their request. A year went by and my friend finally got his JSAR parts back but not stock. The story was (at that time) that the Murray guy needed someone to bore the spring tube correctly and he couldn't do it.

Ryche, I am not building one, I'm just the type of guy that buys rare parts when I find them. I found this for sale "as is" on APEX last year. I was trying to get my 1941 lower completed when I came across it. I also bought a DROR .303 mag well also without a clue what I was going to do with it. APEX still has some DROR barrels listed...

I have "invested" a lot of money supporting the NRA in the past. That stopped when the internal fraud became public. We need a healthy NRA, hopefully the board will make the necessary changes to bring people like me back into the fold. I'm not holding my breath.

A quick look at B3378 shows that it looks to be a complete rifle with the bolt hold open option in place. The finish and patina look good but the main stock appears to be a replacement either repo or probably Winfield. No telling on the condition of the barrel but it is military configuration. This would be a good starter/shooter if the bidding doesn't get out of hand. I'd consider buying this one if it was 5K to 6K or less

I sold one in April at the big Tulsa Show for $11K. Part of the challenge is finding the right buyer who is willing to pay a premium for a replica. They are out there but it might take a while to make the sale

I thought it was a pretty good deal and if I had the funds available, I would have grabbed it. Hopefully we don't see it relisted at $10K next week

I had to look at this Holy Grail once again. This time I noticed it is a "Model of 1940" so that clears it up LOL. So many red flags it's silly.....
