  1. I guess it is good that these rifles are fetching this kind of money, but like any hobby/pursuit, it is also an investment in time and with enough legwork you can still find a JSAR at a more reasonable price. I picked up a B-prefix at a local show a few weeks ago for a very reasonable price (especially compared to what his Garands were priced at), so a deal can still be had if you keep at it. Selling at auction and now on platforms like Gunbroker (which now generate reportable 1099s) is a turnoff for many casual sellers.
  2. This went up for auction. Hopefully somebody here snagged it. I cannot make out the serial number, but it appears to be a no-prefix. Went for $1000.00 plus 28% buyer's premium ($1280 total). Unless you have a lot of parts hidden away, I am not sure what putting a whole rifle together would end up cost-wise today.
  3. No, the mainspring tube hole has not been drilled. Obviously, the hardest part. Seems a shame to leave it unfinished...
  4. I am underwhelmed.
  5. Picked this up 15+ years ago. Seemed to me to be original JSAR wood, or at least not an obvious commercial replacement. I assumed it was discarded due to the chip on the end (even though I believe the chip would be gone when finished). Looking for any thoughts. I did send photos to Mr. Joe Scott. I will reveal his comments a few posts in (if he doesn't chime in). Thank you. R/Matt
  6. Greetings. I have returned after a long absence with a new screen name. Just heading home from the Ohio Valley Military Society “Show of Shows”. Didn’t price every JSAR, but one was tagged at $10,800 with a bayonet. It did not sell… R/Matt
