What is a #2 stock

A number 2 stock is the second type used on the JSAR. We believe that this type of stock was machined without the bulge in side at the magazine but was flat on both sides. the bulge pieces were applied later as a glued laminate and machined to spec. Now this is speculative though we believe we are pretty near the truth.

The stock should have a '2' stamped into the wood at the magazine end.
