Chile contract

6 posts in this topic

My JSAR is a Chile Govt. contract. It has a 3006 barrel. What caliber were the Chile contract rifles supposed to be? I assume the barrel in my unit has been changed.

Everyone knows this by now, but it might be worth repeating: the 7-mm Chilean Johnson rifles had a barrel collar marked .30-06. If there is ANY doubt as to the actual caliber, one might want to make certain before attempting to chamber ammo.

Thanks for that info. I was not aware of that fact. The barrel in my unit is 3006 as I have fired/disassembled/cleaned it a number of times.

I have two pristine chileans in my collection, both are excellent shooters and both of course have the collar marked 30-06...I find them to be somewhat more pleasant to shoot than the .30 cals.
