The Dutch "Star" Marking

2 posts in this topic

Will a 1941 Johnson bearing the Dutch acceptance "star" carry a premium in the marketplace? According to the information in the book Johnson Rifles and Machine Guns by Canfield, just over 10,000 were ordered by the Dutch and very few delivered. This seems as if it would make the star mark an added value as the rarest of the rare Johnson.

Not really, as the stars and all ordnance proofs and acceptance marks were applied at the factory. The inspectors were US nationals who were sub-contracted by the NPC to do acceptance work. Once they were accepted they were placed in bond for future shipment to KNIL, or other dutch units.
