Fair market value for Johnson sporter

2 posts in this topic

I have a 1941 Johnson sporter ,the gun has a high polished blue sporter front sight and sporter stock. Is it worth restoring it and were can I fine the parts. Or what is it worth and sell it.

First time posting.

Thank you

George

A polished and blued sporter is only worth $1600-2400). To remilitarize it you will need a new butt stock ($235), butt plate, swivel and 4 screws ($60), small stock key and screws ($30), refurbish bbl by removing ramp sight and installing proper front sight and bayonet lug ($150) and Parkerize ($125). If the markings are polished thin, they can be reingraved ($400). Then you will have an obviously restored JSAR (one can change the finish but cannot reverse the polishing) worth $32-3500). Joseph Scott has the parts and does the restoration but not the engraving.
