1941 LMG in Combat !

1 post in this topic

Sorry for the double post but wanted all to see this!

Well; I am sure we have all done this from time to time; I remember seeing a picture of a 1941 Johnson LMG in a picture of or near Edson's ridge at Guadelcanal. Having several uncles that were there and one uncle and his lifelong friend who served under Edson I have been looking for the picture for years. Tonight I was moving a bunch of books around looking for my Skennerton Reference book on English rifles. By chance I opened ""Lost ships of Guadelcanal"" By Robert Ballard; the guy who researches deep ship wrecks. On Page 113 the picture is there under the Edson pictures -- It is not easy to decipher but the front man in lying in back of a 1919A4 air cooled; directly in back of him the tell tale front sight of a 1941 Johnson LMG--- I don't know if this picture is well known or if it a common picture but take a look if yu got the book; otherwise I will try and copy it and paste it up here for all to see-- Now if I could just find my Skennerton book!!
