Re-engraving lettering

Some years ago, a company in Cal. was re-engraving lettering on polished receivers but the laws changed out there and it is extremely hard to ship a gun to California. I just visited them and they kindly showed me how they did it. A tedious job with expensive machinery and years of experience. They will search for a FFL dealer who can ship and receive according to Ca. laws. They did agree to sell me a duplicate engraving template. They said it would take me about a years practice learning how to do it well. He does 1-3 letters and stops for eye strain rest, then picks up next day, etc. I will also need an expensive large pantograph and special vise. Hope to find one nearby, due to shipping cost of the heavy machine. Maybe by next year, I can learn how.
