From the butt end forward. I used a 11mm socket on an extension tapping it forward with a brass hammer after taking out the cross pin.

I used a socket and extension against the base of the recoil spring plunger, and three days of WD-40 and carburetor cleaner to cut the hardened grease. Joseph Scott's DVD is a big help, though this

method went beyond what he describes.

I have done this once, and used a wooden dowel and a large plastic hammer. Getting it out was easy enough once it started to move, resetting it in the new stock SUCKED. A whole lot of back and forth to keep it lined up for the cross pin. Not a job i ever look forward to again.

Hope it went well for you :)

Ryche
