Replacement rear sights

1 post in this topic

I had a message about detecting replacement rear sights so I thought I would post my reply. Current replacement sights being sold have a metric roll pin through the windage knob instead of solid hardened pin per original. The knob only has one hole underneath for the spring loaded detent plunger, Originals have three more for weight reduction. Also the windage screw is metric thread, not standard 6-40. They are very black and show no wear, rust or corrosion. When I made rear sights, I stamped "JS" underneath and they were matte finished Parkerized, gray/black. I have noticed several rifles up on auctions that were not all original as claimed. Most common is replacement wood from long ago which the sellers don't realize is not factory.
