M1941 bayonet

3 posts in this topic

I recently picked up this bayonet and scabbard for my collection and would like some opinions on it. I’ve not owned one before but researched the heck out of it before I took a chance on it from an estate. There are no markings on it or the scabbard.  The bayonet was still in the GI green wrap when I got it.  Any opinions would be appreciated.  Regards

Hello Ccyooper, and welcome to the site and forum.

Nice looking set. They appear to be all original. While I cannot confirm, the scabbard seems to have more wear/time on it compared to the bayonet, which if is as you say, may be 'as issued'. While the desire may be there to remove the paper/cosmoline, personally, I would leave it as it is. Here is a link to photos of my nearly new bayonet/scabbard. Also discussion by others regarding theirs and other similar items.

PM sent to you. Check "envelope" at the top right of the page.

Enjoy
