That looks like a great Johnson rifle. Very nice. The stamping on the receiver looks rather worn and weak. Would that indicate it may have been refinished? Nice to have the bayonet included also. I'll have to watch that auction. Good luck!

I have very little history on this rifle except it was bought at a pawn shop and i purchase it at the Wanamaker gun show.

Am very curious about the odd number stamped on the bayonet sheath as i have not seen or heard of this being done.

Bayonets and scabbards were never marked/numbered by the factory. Any number/markings seen on most today are what might have been applied by either units or individuals at some later time. Take any markings or stories about them with a grain of salt. Caveat emptor.
