I actually have one that has the same color wax on it, some of the wax is partially removed.  I’ve posted pictures on the forum of it last year.   I’ve been watching this auction as well.

That sure is beautiful. I'm not sure a faked one would look like that. It would probably have to have the wax stripped off to fully authenticate but that sure would ruin the increased value with the wax on. Did Johnson bayonets actually get made and/or issued like this?

Wax? Never seen that. Seen plenty of that super sticky cosmoline but never wax.

I am going to have to look at mine more closely. What I have thought might be cosmoline (beneath spring), may in fact be wax.   Will advise.
