Is anyone interested in a upper receiver

19 posts in this topic

Hello everyone,

I recently aquired a M1941 upper receiver and bolt. It was pretty dirty so I put it in the parts washer which removed the factory parkerizing, I wanted to check the receiver for cracks anyway. The receiver itself is solid and would make a great spare or builder. There are two small spots where at some point in time someone Tig welded spots (both smaller than 0.5")

I originally wanted to build it, but sourcing all the other pieces seems like it would be quite the treasure hunt. So I have decided to sell it to someone who may need it. Let me know if you may be interested.

One glaring problem is this receiver is not complete. The back end has been cut off.  The bolt stop will not attach properly.  I would unfortunately consider this useless.   Might be some good bolt parts though.

Could you show a photo looking at the rear portion?

He sold the receiver on eBay?  Or did you mean gunbroker.

I was surprised as well, and did find it on ebay with several other 'gun' items

eBay is full of errors like this. Lots of items slip through.

I’ve seen high capacity magazines sell, but never a receiver. The seller and buyer took some public risks with this one.

I think it fractured and was not cut off. I could be wrong however the fracture follows the contour of the receivers features. Regardless I've a bit of an issue of the seller claiming "it's easily repairable."

That portion you have circled looks suspiciously like an lmg receiver.

I had the same thought, someone started a Semi LMG Project and bailed

I believe the lower receiver, with it's full auto hammer/trigger/sear intact, would be the only item of interest to the BATFE. The upper receiver is not, by itself, a restricted part.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. (I'm never wrong...but once I thought I was wrong and it turned out I was only mistaken)

That makes too much sense, we are talking about the BATFE here.  The way I understand it, the upper is the serialized part and is therefore considered the gun or controlled part.

The first image still looks like a JSAR upper, though shows signs of tampering

Not a chance. The LMG had an entirely different top receiver.

Hi Eb,

the close up of the rear cut portion is what resembled an lmg 😊
