Factory numbering of stocks was minimal. The photos attached show examples. The 4 digit production logs only indicate the number "2", but we have seen evidence of the number "3" being used as well.

In addition to ArtR's excellent info and pics, sometimes you really have to look carefully to see them, here's one of mine - a 2, because of the rough grain of the wood, it's barely discernable.

Numbers are also found on the face of the stock against the magazine.  I am of the opinion they were indications of which shift made the stocks. I have seen more at this location than on the exterior.

I didn't find my stock mark #2 until I removed the thin layer of varnish with denatured alcohol and wiped her down with numerous layers of boiled linseed oil. The #2 stamping sure stands out now!
