  10. I need a 1941 Johnson rear sling swivel. I could also use a front sling swivel with the link. Plus a bayonet lug.Plus a metal butt plate. I hope some of you with whom I've traded before will have something. I've got some nice Johnson/Winfield sporter wood for sale or trade. I've still got that freshly parkerized LMG/para-carbine barrel with the shark fin front sight for sale too. You can see it in the gallery.
  11. I may have a front sight. What do you have to trade?
  12. Brian, How about 6138 I just acquired it and would like to know how many parts are original to the build sheet.
  13. My guess is $1500.00 to $4000.00 depending on condition. Condition is EVERYTHING.
  14. I agree that it's a very nice rifle. You are probably right about it not being the "original" finish but what is on it sure looks good. I agree with leaving the initials on there. I would make an attempt to figure out what name the initials stand for. That would be great to know. Might be someone famous? Please keep us posted on your new acquisition. I may have an original bayonet if you need one to complete your set.
  15. Hello Joe,

This is Michael Roper....aka...M48TANKER. I may be in the market for one of your stock sets. Do you have any near completion? If so what is the price shipped?

Have you been able to locate anyone to buy your business? I would be interested but I'd have a lot to learn. I already own a Brown & Sharp #2A Milling machine and a South Bend 9 lathe. I'm a retired Custom Homebuilding Contractor with excellent woodworking skills and quite a bit of gunsmithing and mechanical knowledge.

Please let me know what's going on with you and your health issues. I wish you the best.

  16. Mtaylor3285, My brother has been looking for a Johnson he can afford. I'd like to see some pictures and get a price. You can message me on this board or contact me by email. Thanks, Mike
  17. Brian, That's a very impressive display. I hope that you do well. I've always liked the looks of that slick "Winfield Sporter" with the Monte Carlo stock, scope and plated gold accents. Is this the one I've seen with gold plated sling swivels, trigger guard, ejector? Seems like the word "Alaskan" comes to mind in the description...maybe the scope?
  18. Bryan, don't you have a few extra magazines to sell?
  19. Ronny, Let us know if you get a spring. If you can't find one then I have a big box of gun springs which I bought from a gun shop going out of business. I have several Johnsons but never took the charging handle apart to see the spring inside. I'll try to check out one of my guns and match up a spring if I can. You can message me through this board and let me know if you still need one.
  20. I would like to define the word: "Provenance" for the newer collectors here. We absolutely depend on provenance for the definitive word on the originality of any high dollar collectible.
  21. Auction results= $1810.00 plus $18.00 shipping. Hmmm.......I suppose that sets a new record for a barrel?
  22. I saw that. It looks like a nice barrel. Sort of makes me want to sell my extras, but then what would I do if I ever need another nice barrel?
  23. I don't think I've ever seen one. However I would love to have one.....even a reproduction.
  24. I found a few pictures of my Miltech restoration.
  25. I have a Miltech restoration which I bought from a private individual. I have not had any dealings with Miltech myself. The 1941 Johnson JSAR which I have is about as perfect as you would expect a brand new firearm to be. I can't find any flaws and I'm very pleased with it. I don't remember at the moment what I paid for it but the next time I open my gunsafe I'll check my records and let you know if you are interested. It seems that the figure was around $4800.00 but that was several years ago. It came in a wood crate, with a reproduction bayonet and repro owners manual. If you have the opportunity to buy an existing Miltech restoration then I would go for it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Since that purchase I also acquired a Miltech restored Garand and it's like new also......actually they are too new looking....hehehe. If you want patina you'll have to apply that yourself.
