  1. You definately don't see very many of these anywhere.
  2. I bet your right. People sometimes go crazy on auctions.
  3. Its different for sure. I've seen some on online that are pretty elaborate.
  4. I think you did good on the price. It could be a repark job but, I wouldn't worry about that. There's so few of these old rifles around. A lot were messed with by Winfield too.
  5. Once again thanks for posting this. I try and read all the good articles on Johnson rifles.
  6. I was thinking of 1903 and 03a3 barrels. I didn't know of any others used for Johnsons.
  7. Hello, I like how you altered the sporter stock to military profile. Do you have a sketch or print to show how much wood you removed and shape of military profile? I would like to do this to mine. Thanks

  8. Joseph, I got my buttplate  it in the mail today. Thank You. David Spears

  9. I've looked on Numrich and Sarco. Both don't have any, and Springfield Sporters seems to be closed or something. Thanks.
  10. Thanks, thats some good info, Joe. From what I can gather my rifle was one of the Dutch that was apparently bought back.
  11. Where in Ky. do you live? I was born and raised in Cumberland County.

  12. Yeah, its odd. The bottom screw that's in the butt plate does not come out. They put a door on it that leads to nowhere. No compartment drilled in stock. I saw a documentary on the Winchester House and it had doors like that. Lol.
  13. Heres a couple pics of the buttplate on my rifle now. Weird.
  14. Message sent. Thanks
  15. Yeah, that sounds good. Do you accept money orders? Or maybe debit card? Let me know address and any other info. Thanks

  16. I sent him a message on Tuesday but, haven't received an answer yet. Thanks, M48TANKER.
  17. I wondered if you had any Johnson 1941 butt plates? Thanks

  18. I wondered what the average value is for a Winfield Johnson 1941? Thanks.
  19. Metrotps, is yours a Winfield or original? Even if its a Winfield, I would've asked more.
  20. Wow. That's a nice one. A friend of mine at work said he's been going to gun shows for at least 25 years and never seen a Johnson rifle at all.
  21. The rifle I'm referring to is in good shape. Some of the finish is gone but, overall good condition. It has the usual Winfield sporter barrel with ramp bead sight with hood. It does not have the original butt stock. It operates fine.
  22. Nice. I like seeing older pics of milsurp rifles being used or carried.
  23. No, not the dagger type. I've seen a few of the normal type bayos though.
  24. I'm sure this has been asked before, and if so sorry. But, I've heard anything from as little as 20,000 to over 100,000 rifles built. I know they're rare because you never see these rifles at gun shows(at least I don't)ever. If anybody knows total production, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
  25. Thanks Brian. That's some interesting info there. I think my Johnson is a Winfield, because it has a sporter ramp front sight with a hood. Also the butt plate isn't original. You say that Winfield was in Southern California. Well, my rifle came from a guy that lived in L.A. County. Thanks.
