  1. I believe this receiver was welded, but will let you know for sure. Man does that story kinda fit all the details of this gun that we know for sure. Thanks so much for sharing. I knew somebody on here would have more insight to this gun. As so often happens when old collectors die off, we loose the story and only the gun remains.
  2. I agree with all of that but still looking for more info on who, what and where. Not really figuring out why somebody would go to all the effort to stamp or engrave that info on the receiver to begin with as it doesnt really go along with the plan to rebuild or recreate an Isreali DROR at least as far as I understand. NO matter what its a super cool and rare gun that fits my collection perfectly.
  3. I too thought it was interesting that the Johnson receiver appeared to be remarked 8mm and also noticed the lack of patent markings just adds to my confusion. Who 25-30 years ago in this part of the gun building business had the capabilities to remark the receiver let alone the interest in doing so? What do you all think about the lack of all the normal patent stampings ? As far as I am reading online their wasnt much connection between Cranston RI and the building of these DRORs in Isreal. We all know anybody could have stamped the 2179 on the lower beside the Isreali markings but does the 2179 on top look like a factory stamping? Once again thanks for the input
  4. is yours semi auto or full?

  5. I have very little knowledge about the history of this gun before I found it except was told it was in a collection for at least 20 years. Theres limited info online about these being demilled and/or converted to semi auto. So i was hoping the experts on here would give some input. I think the 8mm script was added to the johnson receiver so it wasnt done in the back yard 25 years ago when laser engraving was much more difficult. I did watch Ians videos before purchasing this gun. Thats all the info I have and it will be here tomm so i can take better pics in detail if anybody wants to see anything special. I did buy a spare barrell of GB while they are available.
  6. or somebody made him an offer offline
  7. I want to hire the guy that did all that work for $249
  8. Before you guys roast me on here let me say I have collected alot of rebuilt semi auto demilled 20th century machine guns and have alot of the more common stuff like 1919, Bren, Mg3, Vickers, DP 28 and come across this gun as you see. I bought it and it will be here this week to add to my collection. These are new to me and i had done the normal research online before making the purchase, but there's nothing like hearing from all the experts with hands on experience. I would love to hear what you guys have to say about this gun, the good and the bad as I can take it. Any ideas who may have built it? Been told its been in a collection for at least 30 years but who really knows for sure since that collectors no longer with us. I will take some better pics myself this week. Thanks for the input and comments in advance Thanks, Jay
  9. any info available on #2179 Thanks, Jay
