They posted the final prices (gavel + buyer's premium) for the Stern collection recently auctioned off by James Julia:

WOW!!! Last semi-auto rebuild (not Mexican marked) that I saw -- about 5 years ago -- had an asking price of about $5,200. Ten years ago I sold my M1941 l.m.g., complete with backpack mag carrier and 10 mags for about $6,500. I guess there are some things that are just "keepers"! I guess the real moral to the story is "Don't look back". BTW, the so-called M1944 was really a M1944-E or M1945. This is the gas-assist l.m.g. The "real" M1944 did not have the gas assist feature and was mainly a M1941 lmg with a reconfigured lower receiver and a redesigned bolt rebound retarder.
