1907 sling for johnson rifle

3 posts in this topic

Hi,

Sorry I am a new member and purchased a 1941 Johnson rifle for my father's birthday a few weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone could help me locate or put me in touch with someone that I could purchase an orignal 1907 sling that would have gone on this Johnson rifle. I can not tell you how suprised he was when he recieved the rifle. I was also told that there was a sling that may have been used on the Johnson rifle that was not a 1907 but not sure what it is. I will send pictures of the gun when i have a chance. I also have the bayonet and frog/sheath for the bayonet.

Thanks for all of your help and support.

Ron

I do not know anyone with an original but check out these links for quality reproductions:

"Turner sometimes has seconds. Call them and ask if they have any factory second slings in the configuration you want. If they do, you can get it for $10 to $15 off. I have one and cannot find a flaw on it." "My preferred 1907ish sling is the Turner All Weather match sling. The keepers do not slip on them." From SurplusRifle forum.

I just spotted this on Ebay but do not know if it is real.

Note: I have no affiliation with this listing.

Harder to find is the M1923 sling. This was rather intricate and made of canvas, but really looks great on the gun, particularly if you find one in khaki or early WWII OD #3 green. I've never seen a reproduction. Here's what it looks like:

This sling is also correct for the M1928 and M1928A1 Thompson SMG.
