Easier way to remove Retaining Pins?

3 posts in this topic

Does anybody have an easier less marring way of removing the retaining pins for both the Hammer Block and the front Magazine Housing? Mine seem to be an extremely tight fit. And prying them off with a small flat head screw driver is damaging the pin heads as well as marred a couple places on the receiver. Can any one recommend an easier way of removing these pins?

Several things can make the pins tight. On the rear, you should press in on the door and pusher to take pressure off the bolt catch which the rear pin goes through. Also if the bent end of your mag door pin is not aligned into the recess in end of stock, it will prevent stock/hammer block from going far enough forward. If these don't help, take off the magazine and bolt catch and try the hammer block for pin alignment. There should be a slight clearance between front of stock and back of magazine. Another thing to try is to loosen the large screw in front of the trigger guard, then put in the pin, after it is in, tighten screw. You can test pin fit using the back end of a 3/16" drill instead of your pins. On the front, it should be fairly easy unless the wood is touching it. If so relieve the wood slightly. On rare occasion, I have had to ream the rear holes with a 3/16" precision reamer.
