Recoil keys across the wood

1 post in this topic

The three keys which go across the wood ( one small and one large in stock/ one large in forearm) are recoil keys , not stock reinforcements. The small one accepts recoil from the main spring tube and the large from trigger group. This allowed the bolt stop plate to have clearance for removal/stripping. The location of the small key is very critical to proper functioning as it positions the main spring which affects bolt operation. I have found that most sporter stocks have the small key only approximately located and usually packed with epoxy under the plugged hole.
